Okay I suppose we could have a thread on modding equipment, so I made the title a bit more generic.

What Im really interested in is this:
I have some bonus items from typing /bonus, one of them being the Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow. Quite a nice bow and skin I must say. I wanted to see if I could change any of the mods on it, thinking that more than likely I cant (like green items). I was right, adding a +25 health mod was NOT allowed. Then for some reason, I decided I would try again a few days later, and it worked. I replaced the +15% damage mod to +25 health. GREAT!!! I started a new Ranger char 2 nights ago, salvaged the mod from the last bow and tried it on my new version, and now once again, I cant mod the bow. Anyone know whats going on here? A bug perhaps? Or something I dont know about?

Are you sure it was the same bow? I've never been able to mod the bonus items but it's possible that ANet changed something, then changed it back.

However, the +15% can't have been replaced by +25 health as they're 2 different parts of the weapon (15% is an inscription/inherent mod, fortitude is a bowgrip)

Remember weapons are customised per char, so try and do the /bonus on the char you want to mod it on and then try and do the mod

As Eremos said, didn't think you could mod those weapons either.... and different mods no less???

I may not have changed the +15% damage, cant remember now exactly what it was, but I can check tonight. One of the stats on the bow was +15% damage, there is also another mod on it, so it may of been that one maybe, and of course its poisonous bow string (+33%). I did however DEFINITELY change the bow grip to the +25 fortitude. My bow changed from Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow to Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow of Fortitude. And lilDeath, I did use /bonus on the char I wanted to use it on again.

Originally, I gave the bow to my ranger hero (even though its customized for me:confused: ), and thats when I tried to mod it, but it wouldnt work. Later, I did /bonus again on my ranger char, and this time I was able to mod it. But now with my new ranger, I did /bonus again, got the bow, but can't mod it. I was even able to Salvage the Fortitude grip from the one I could mod before. If I hadn't, I could of shown you a screenshot. Usually you can't even salvage these sort of items. I really am confused!!!

AFAIK, you can do this. It is not removing anything or changing an existing mod that was on it. You simply added a new mod. This is possible afaik.
I misunderstood your first explanation.

Any of your heroes can use any weapon that is customised for you. It won't work on another char or its heroes though.
Maybe I must try this whole modding thing and see what happens in this scenario.
Think I've only tried to salvage and it wouldn't work, but not actually adding or changing mods on these weapons.
but then again, I bore easily.... :)

Nope...I tried again last night and I still can't Mod it again. My new Nevermore Flatbow just does not want to be a Nevermore Flatbow of Fortitude :(
My last one must of been more of a pushover...

Found this on Guild Wiki:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Poisonous Nevermore Flatbow is one of the seven bonus items in the '06 version of the European Guild Wars and the American game of the year edition.

It is automatically customized when acquired, and cannot be dropped or traded from one's inventory, nor can it be salvaged. It can, however, be deleted to make space.

Originally, you could add a bow grip to this item, but this item will no longer accept any upgrade items. It is unclear when or why this change took place.

Hmmm....this must of happened just the other night then? Or there is a bug and someone you can get around it, because originally I couldn't mod it, then somehow I managed to, then I couldn't again.
