Hi,

I recently got an Xbox 360S with the 250GB HDD over the weekend. I tried to plug it in with an HDMI cable and it shows me a message saying "Mode not supported". I'm using a Samsung 40 Inch LED and I have confirmed that it does support 1080p etc...when I try with the A/V cables that came with the Xbox, it works, but the resolution is really cr@p. Whats interesting is that about every now and then (maybe 1 in 30 times) when I power on/off the xbox/tv it works???

Could anyone please help???

Thanks very much

Seems like you have an HDMI handshake issue if it works sometimes when you restart the TV.

First try changing your display setting on the Xbox 360 dashboard to one of the HD modes. Can't remember exactly what it is right now, but it should be in the settings menu. Use the AV cable to connect it to access the menu. Then turn on your TV, followed by the Xbox once your TV is on.

Hey Mike,

Thanks for the reply...I have actually read that it could be a handshake issue...would this be with the TV, Xbox or HDMI Cable? I have a cheap Vivanco HDMI Cable that I got from Makro last year. Do you think that could be the issue?

BTW, when it does show something it plays in 1080p/1080i etc as I fiddled around with those when it was working

Just an update...I bought a new HDMI cable and all seems to be fine now...so it seems that was the issue
