So, what is the exact model/name of this antenna connector?

And who is it available from. I sorta recall ProAsm mentioning webb.co.za having the stuff. Do they have stock. ?

I see webb.co.za's frontpage has a special on "MCX female jack for RG174, RG188" for $0.90... Is this the connector?

According to my chat with webb they do not have the connectors yet, they are in the process of being manufactured. This may be where fastcomm are getting the connections from.

Fastcomm is getting the antenna on the 18th.
When they get it they wlil apparently phone me.

I will be standing in a queue it seems.

After seeing almost no difference in ping times with external antenna vs the Modem's builtin antenna, I'm sticking with my 12% full speed signal, no need for better.

However, I'm sure the antennas will help people who don't have a signal at all.

well flashvc, i used to have like 16% signal and my downloads would jump around alot from like 16kBs to 45Kbs alot.. now i got 22% signal and its definitely more stable, hover around 40 - 44 now with 256k .. im nto complaining but i cant wait for the antenna [:p]

Dr4k out

It seriously sounds like they got you on the wrong package.
I got 256k and I get a solid 30KB/s download at all times, no spiking of any kind..and yeah..that's with a 12-18 signal (2-3 lights on the modem). Can't see the signal anymore, since I've switched to PPPoE

Flash, these are the differences I've noticed so far with my antenna.

Connecting now happens 1st time almost everytime.
I have never been disconnected since I had the antenna.
My downloads are now solid, dont seem to fluctuate like before.
My gaming pings (ingame not dos ping) has improved and is much more stable.
Before my pings would fluctuate between 130 and 600 and the lag was unbelievable.
Used to take me at least 6 tries just to pickup a weapon [V]

Granted, the pings have a long way to go compared to IDSN or ADSL but I will get on top of it and only today I found out a major reason for the high pings.
For a 56k modem player upgrading to the 256k system with an antenna, he/she would have a pretty good gaming experience.

I got this email from Donald at www.powerband.co.za. So it seems that
they have all the required hardware to install an antenna...

I had an email from Donald saying I don't need an antenna and it won't improve things if my signal is between 22-30

ProASM: Sounds like you've made a discovery about how to improve pings? Care to share or is the info currently under CP?

As we have never seen one except the 2 that I have, its either a MMCX (female) or a RPMMCX (female).

OK, so you have the connector (seeing as you've managed to hookup that nifty antenna to it)...

But you don't know what type it is? You said you got it from webb.co.za?

Can they tell you what type it was? Plz. ?

Or am I misunderstanding you? Which is it MMCX or RPMMCX ? Female, from what I've been able to gather from unscrewing the little plug on the aerial.
