I was working on my company's 3G last night when the 3G modem (red device holding the sim card) light went red and stayed red. Vodafone Mobile Connect said i was still connected to the network but i had no signal. And i couldnt do anything! =(
I couldnt get connected again, i rebooted, took the modem-thing out and made sure the port was not dusty and that the sim is connected right. Nothing worked.
This morning i had a red light again, it just stayed red, but after a few minutes it flashed blue and i got one bar signal. It connected but a very slow connection. Every few minutes the light would go red and i cant do anything - then went orange and i could work again.
Now i phoned the support guys and was on the phone for ages with them and they reassured me there is nothing wrong with the network. They had me take the sim out and put it in an extra phone that i had and it got full signal. So they are suggesting that its the modem.
I am at friends now and the little red light is yet to appear... but the light is constantly yellow/orange. SO im thinking its network related afterall, but not sure.
But i am wondering if someone could PLEASE tell me what it means... if i have a red light, on the modem but signal bars on the software... does that mean its a hardware problem or not?
What does the different colors mean on the modem?
