just bought an aspire4741 notebook and after I plugged in and installed my mtn 3g wireless dongle (now running maxis broadband software) it won't connect to the internet. just get a "628 error" message and sometimes a 619 error message?

tried copying the settings from my desktop to the note book but still get the same errors?

disabled the firewall - still get the error messages.

my mtn wireless dongle works fine on my other 2 desktops - I know this cause I'm using it now.

it has its own wlan connection, but I made the maxis broadband connection the default setting, still get the error messages?

any ideas?

what I'm not doing wrong?

ok for those who r interested and after exhaustive google searching it seems that there is an issue with the huawei modem drivers & win7 64bit!!
win7 64 bit does not see the usb modem as a modem but a storage device!! install a new usb device and then point it to the sub modem software and that should sort it out.

More details please?

goto yr device manager

right click on "usb mass storage device"

click "update driver software"

select "browse my computer for driver software"

select "let me pick from a list of devices drivers on my computer"

un check show compatible hardware

select "standard usb host controller from the manufacturer list"

then in the model list select "usb composite device"

then click NEXT

if u get a warning from MS just click yes

it should update drivers automatically

reboot and yr huawei software should work now.

in the device manager u will see a new device "modem" listed there

open it and u will see the huawei software listed there.

worked for me

good luck
