After all my disconnections of the weekend (it's about once a minute now) I decided to unplug the modem from it's power and let it cool down. I was very surprised to find out it wasn't hot at all. Not ice cold either but you couldn't describe it as warm either. I wonder if it's busy failing or if all the modems in gauteng are cooler due to the weather?

Should the modem normally feel hot? Isn't it just the battery that's charging that generates a bit of heat?

We've speculated about this before in another topic:

The modem will get hotter the less signal it gets as it has to boost the signal, samas a cell phone. Also more data requires a higher signal, so if your transfering data then it will become hot, it is also charging the battery constanly. bought my modem so looking at pulling the battery out, and seeing what it does.
