modem power

how do i power down the modem when pc is off. when power is plugged into it it just turns back on and stays on. if i pull out ac power or kill power at the wall then it stays off...... ?????

Yip, that is correct.
While the modem is powered you cannot switch it off.

if it's powered and you hold the button in for 3 seconds, it resets the modem

btw, my 512k is so fast, could we move the "spamming 60 second wait" to maybe 15 seconds?

oh and also..... damn this modem runs hot, being in an industry (tv) that we try keep everything as cool as possible (for longevity and reliability) we aint gonna get good life out of these little ovens. yeah i know they constently transmitting online blah blah... damn if these little transmitters are getting this hot i want to stay as far away as possible.... (you know the whole cellphone radiowaves etc thing)
