Evening all

IM really struggling to find a decent router that can support PPPOE Relay ( Half Bridge )
I want to leave the one accound in the router and I switch between a redafrica account but for the phones, Ipads and laptops I use the telkom account ( Which will be stored in thr router )

The old DG834G is giving up the ghost and the wireless is really not that strong.
Ive tried the N600, the N300 but neither support PPPOE relay and now im stuck.
I had a look at the Belkin Play N600 too but couldnt really find any info on it.

I want a one in all sort of thing, I dont want two units.

Preffered Gigabit LAN and devent coverage.

Any Ideas?

Just buy a D-Link DSL-2500U for like R200 and then connect it to your N300/N600.
Then your Netgear can act as a switch + WiFi AP.

The all-in-one ADSL modem + Gigabit Switch + 802.11n devices are pretty expensive, and I don't know if they all support half-bridge mode. To be honest, I don't know about their PPPoE modes at all. I just know all D-Link modems (and I suppose TP-Link too) support half-bridge mode.

I tried looking for a gigabit router that includes an ADSL modem that supports half-bridge mode, but I can't find any.

I'm not sure if the Linksys WAG320N supports half-bridge mode. There are quite a few people on this forum who owns this router, so you should be able to find out if it supports it...
Wootware has (a refurbished) one that they're selling for just under R1000.

Nice find RoganDawes!
That Buffalo router+modem has a RJ45 port for its ADSL connection, but you can just plug in a normal RJ11 cable or you can use an adapter (if it isn't already supplied).

I'm using a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH router (no ADSL modem included) and it is working great with DD-WRT v24-sp2 build 17461. I just dislike mine's antennas, but I see the one that you posted has normal detachable 2dBi omni-directional antennas.
If you're having signal issues, then you can always replace them with like 9dBi antennas.

Whoa I didn't know a router existed with ADSL + Gigabit. Been looking for a while now.

My current setup is a simple ADSL router set to bridged mode, plugged into a Mikrotik 750GL to control traffic splitting to tell which devices to use what account (multiple accounts dialed up). Then from that into a TP-Link 1043ND for a wireless Access Point.

Yes, I am aware that using such a sophisticated device as a simple access point is a waste, but the Mikrotik just does routing so much better, not to mention easy traffic splitting.

@Pada, any decently powerful device you can recommend for a wifi access point?

+1 DSL-2500U
Simple, cheap, stable, syncs on lines other routers struggle with. I haven't had to login to mine again since the day I got it.

+1 RB750
Can do almost any routing you can dream up.

To give you an idea, my RB750 does the following:
PPPOE on a DSL-2500U
Links to home lan on a gigabit switch, dhcp from the RB750
2nd home lan on a different subnet on the same switch, fixed IPs
3nd home lan on a different subnet on the same switch, fixed IPs
Link to cheapo tenda 300mbit wifi AP with 2x 7dBi antennae, fixed and dhcp IPs on different subnets
Link to neighbour's Mikrotik RB751
Link to wug Mikrotik SXT
pptp with neighbour
Dynamic DNS updating
Pptp to my phone to connect home/wug network when I'm away
Routing and firewalling between 4 subnets, pppoe, pptps and their subnets

I haven't needed to do fair queuing on the adsl yet, but its very easy to implement.
