OK, i've had it.

This is the third time I had the modem sync, but not able to connect. I have three lines at three different sites, and now my home line is suffering from the same symptoms.

Tried different ISP accounts (Datapro, Imaginet, Telkom), no difference.

Both previous times had to beg for 2-3 weeks for somebody to come, and eventually they had to reset the dslam, or escalate, or something.

What is a foolproof (I know) way to get them to get this thing running again? I mean without "Please click the Start button, and then Internet Explorer" instructions and timewasters.

It's friday night and I've been holding on for 25+ minutes, I think they will not answer the phone until Monday. :-(

I feel your pain. I have exactly the same problem with my ADSL and I've been on hold with the support center for over 15 minutes already. Fortunately my Neotel internet is still working.

Well, in case this helps anybody, I managed to get hold of them (45+ minutes). I somehow explained what was going on, the guy tried to test the line, and found out that there is a "fault" on the port. Hallelujah! Aparently, they'll contact me tomorrow to tell me what they will do.

Let's see.

1 thing you must always do is ask for a refence as its most likely they wont call:rolleyes:

I am sitting with a simalar problem at my office. but mine gets weirder on the mega 105wr router my account connects fine but as soon as I plug my netgear it does not work and have brought the netgear home to test and it works first time. someone please explain that to me. what could be the problem with it? anyone have a idea?

I know the drill. Got the CRK number. The guy laughed when I knew the format.

Well dont know if this helps but i just had the same problem the last week and took my modem to the telkom shop, they tested it and found a fault with the modem, so they just replaced it. Only took me bout 20 mins.

kinda not a telkom router it is a netgear and why would it work at home and not at shop. I do IT and replaced 3 routers and all three do the same but all three work at home. it is just something that is puzzling me big time here

Exactly the same story here. Even my waiting time was approximately the same. Guess I'll see if anybody contacts me tomorrow.

The good news is - it was fixed this morning. This is definitely first for me. Fixed within 24 hours!

Lucky you have that other telecommunications giant working for you. :)

Ya, had exactly the same issue on Friday. Sync but can't connect - tried with two accounts on different isps. It's almost like your password has been changed. Never had this problem before.

Anyway, phoned Telkom and got reference number. Still hadn't heard anything by Saturday evening so I tried to connect again and what do you know - it's working. No call back from Telkom, nothing.

Funny thing is the callcenter had noooo idea what I was on about. It was like my problem was completely unique which, at the time, I thought it was. With this many posts in here about people having the same problem, there must be tons out there and it's got to make you wonder WTF is going on.

I spoke to a friend at an ISP, this is apparently the most common problem these days.
