Has anyone here had this problem, i have one of the 1 st generation modems and now it won't come on.

BTW are the serious by saying you should put it in your pocket to warm up!!!

any comments welcome

That must be a record! Have you only started having problems now? Just take it back to telkom to be replaced (just make sure you default the router, you dont want anyone getting hold of your details, stealing your b/w). As far as I know of, there were power related problems with the earlier models Telkom included in the packages.

Thanks for the info, although this is a sentech modem?

:)

Woops, sorry. Didnt pay attention to where the thread was located. But still, could be a power problem, have you tried contacting Sentech about the devices failure to turn on?

hehe yes sometimes they want to b just a bit warmed-up :)
i also had the same problem the other day that the modem not wanna come on but my powersupply gave out after 3+ years (R140 later i was up and running again)
btw if your modems internal battery goes through it away - the flattery cant b replaced

The new style Nokia phone charger (small plug) fits on a MyWi modem.

I went through the same hassles a few weeks ago. I eventually had to replace the power supply. If the battery goes you can have it replaced at considerable cost, although you don't need the battery. I seem to recall Nowire will have the battery replaced, but it's around the same price R800? as a 2nd hand refurbished modem. My battery has been on one red bar for 3 months and it still works.

I will however be ditching my Sentech contract tomorrow and will be going the adsl route. Not sure who the ISP will be yet though... I have a flat panel antenna on the roof that might prove usefull to somebody, plus some high quality LMR 400 cable....

Hi all. The Power Supplies on MyWireless "go" quite often so if your modem has been working perfectly and then suddenly it stops working, you probably need to get a new Power supply (usually the case). Often the power supply makes a very high pitched wining sound when they have popped. The power supply costs R140 as mentioned above. In PTA, go to NoWire offices (Fehrsen Street in Brooklyn), in JHB, contact us. We have offered to sell stock on NoWire's behalf to save JHB customers the drive to PTA. Same price. 084 CONNECT. In Durban you might have to order (we can ship if required) and in Cape Town go to NoWire's offices (0861 NOWIRE).

PS: Can the power supply be fixed? Not by us or by NoWire but you are welcome to take it to your local cellphone repair dealer. However, bear in mind that at R140, you don't want to spend long trying to get the old one sorted.

A new P1D (new style) modem battery costs R200 from NoWire by the way...
