Modern Family

The League, Always Sunny, a few animated shows. Modern Family hasn't been that funny in awhile.

Is there a sitcom currently airing that tops Modern Family?

Yes, pretty much every other sitcom out there. :p

I'm kidding, I enjoy Modern Family as well, but Big Bang Theory and The League pretty much blow it out of the water.

Loving the Wednesday nights on Mnet, Modern family followed by TBBT :D
Two of the best sitcoms around

30min, Single camera comedy.
Yip fits the bill.

Sure, it can all fit under the umbrella term sitcom, but I think having a distinction makes sense.

Sitcom = Multi-camera setup, focusing on different static sets that feature all the time (usually apartments, coffee shops, offices etc.), laugh track, studio audience, generic writing & story arcs etc.
Comedy series = Single camera, no audience, no laugh track, no static sets, smarter writing usually, more offbeat locations etc.

30 Rock, Arrested Development, Parks & Rec, Veep, Louie etc. are not made the same way as Friends, The Big Bang Theory, 2 Broke Girls etc.

Well okay but isn't it really just that he wants to know if there are any funny comedy shows that are better than Modern Family?

I enjoyed Peter Kay's Car Share a lot, and Master of None seems very funny. Otherwise there's a dearth of really top class comedies around at the moment for my tastes. I don't like Veep or Louie or 30 Rock or TBBT or Always Sunny, and Modern Family stopped being funny as well.
