Looking at Elden Ring recommended system requirements, looks rough.

Gtx 1060 as minimum with 1070 as recommended
12gb ram

8400 minimum
8700k recommended (this is better than my current CPU)
16gb ram.

Then some games are deceiving, Warhammer 3 system requirements are fairly tame, but if you actually have those specs the game runs like trash

Add in that mid range GPUs are now 9-14k

It's rough

it's called progress?

I am sure you can still run all these games on low 1080p absolutely fine with say a 1060 + i5 skylake

Except it runs fine on a nearly 10 year old console...

yeah, I am sure it pretty much runs @ targeted 1080p with equivalent of low settings, with the bonus of some optimizations being able to be applied because they only need to target a limited amount of configurations for the old consoles.

That is true yeah.
I hope elden ring looks like demon souls on PS5, or better. That game looks insane. But yeah ps5 is still relatively cheap compared to pc

Xbox One S is probably targeting 900p @ 30FPS at low to medium settings.

The game will probably run on anything if sacrifices are made.
Then I wonder if they intentionally push up requirements just in case.

You can't accommodate for everyone's X or Y configuration

I often question why the need for an ATI or Nvidia ad in the splash page when loading the game... looks like paid advertising :sneaky:
What I'm saying is... what if Gfx card manufacturers and driver devs are driving the higher requirements?
How old are the games you're playing? ATi hasn't existed for almost 15 years now and the ATI logo about 12 years ago.

pirated versions usually have tamer requirements
as a lot of processing/GPU/RAM power is eaten up by denuvo and other DRM,

Would you mind posting a link to some "pirate" versions which have substantially different specs to the "official" version?

You still cant play some games on the Xbox like AOE 4 :(
Small drop in a very big ocean.

Play Halo Wars instead, does the job pretty damn well.

****
But I wouldn't be surprised if they release it at some point with either K&M requirement or full blown controller support.

I'm no good at FPS with a controller so I have a PC and Xbox X.

Games like Witcher, Subnautica, Torchlight, souls games or Elden Ring I prefer on the Xbox.
Any FPS or RTS (age of empires), Diablo 3, Ark I prefer on PC.

haha I played Red Alert on PS1 (I think) with controller support many years ago wasn't too bad.

Oh lord no Red Alert was probably one of the worst before they really got FPS right on console.

Diablo 3 is also great on console.

But yeah RTS can be a problem unless designed for console from the ground up.

Wait for the game to release and check benchmarks or test it yourself.

I've seen overstated requirements where lower spec hardware performs just fine and then there's the opposite where a game runs like crap on the advised spec hardware.

The game also has to run on previous gen consoles and the gfx are not exactly spectacular either. Apparently it runs on the same engine (updated) as DS3/Sekiro etc so I suspect you might just be ok...

The current cost of GPU's means.... you replace it when it breaks and stop playing games it can't run. Life goes on.
