Modern WarFare 2
Hey Guys~

I have a problem playing this game... I that my computer is not the best, but I have played it on my computer before, and it was fine, but only lately that whenever I play for long than 10-ish minutes, then the game exits without warning... And then Window XP send or don't send message pops up...

I would like to know whether it is the game... and if it is, is there a patch of something that can fix that error?

Or is my computer just overloading?

THanks

(Oh by the way, for those who think mine isn't an original, this time I took the effort to go get the original from a friend.. (bought it second hand... so I don't think it's the cracks problem... )

Have you tried to play at a lower resolution?

Is it only when you play MW2 that you have this problem?

patches are released via steam, so the game is up to date im assuming? just double check with the steam system that it is. also, is it single player or multi that you experience problems?

Well, actually some other games as well.. like counter-strike source, X-men wolverine, and MW 2... I didn't really have any problems playing any of them before, but it is just lately that I had these problems

Sorri to say, but I don't have interent access, so i can't upgrade that way... (doesn't nag mag give out patches?)

Thanks

What graphics card are you using?

Give some PC specs please.

my computer is:

P4 3.0Ghz
2GB ram
GF 6600 256MB

yeah,, that is it...

I am not sure if it is my computer, but I can say, I did run it before... so... I did not think it was my computer...

Anyway, please advise...

Thanks

Your PC is meeting the absolute minimum requirements for MW2. It will struggle...

If you don't upgrade then you will have to play with all the options set at their lowest.

The only sollution will be to downgrade the graphics and switch of a few special settings.

It's MW2 what do you expect. LOL Mw2 was failing badly last night. only played 1 game in 30min... SIGH

What people always tend to forget is keeping their graphics drivers up to date. The few times i had issues with games a simple graphic driver update resolved the issue.

But yes, your specs are really low, but you should still be able to play without the game crashing. Make sure you have the latest drivers for all your hardware.

Well you know the nag mag always has these drivers for ATI and Nivida.. the last one I got was around Sept '09 so I do not think my driver is that much up to date... but about upgrading my other drivers... that might be a problem since I do not have internet.. But will updating all the other hardware drivers help with the running of the computer? Is not it like once it is working then you can leave it?

But I guess no one is having the same problem as me?

I do not think it is something over heating... but if it is something overheating, can you tell me how to check and stuff?

Thanks

Get a game booster, I know they usually dont work but they do defrag your memory and end all proceses that is not used... also use a regestry cleaner (ask me if you cant find a good one) and get a good security program.. like Eset.. it also helps the defragging and regestry cleaning!

if you still cant fix it just pm me :P

Agree with the drivers suggestion, Sept 09 is before MW2 was released so it's worth the try...when u get the error to send to MS, it does create or give access to a log of the error right ? (not sure, cos i don't really get errors on my pc...sorry)....but if you can check, it might be helpful...

But good way is to start with everything on minimum...then put up the graphics at the highest u can for your machine and play and see if it gives issues, then put the audio ....

Also look at background applications running, try playing without MSN running, or antivirus, etc

If you really have to
open your case and get the numbers written as the unit number on the hardware.

Where ever you have internet at work or whereever start to download the drivers from there and take it home get installed.

But yes the GPU driver sounds a bit old maybe get an updated driver from NAG or the internet.

Ps. If you pay per meg for you internet like 3g rather buy the mag it wil work out three times cheaper.

Dude, what is your location? Maybe someone close by can help you out with internet connection, so that you can update your game and get the latest drivers. BTW, is your steam in offline mode?

Also, open your case and check if your cpu's heatsink isn't full of dust, maybe try cleaning it.

I am in midrand, if you are close by, I don't mind helping you out. :)

Hey~

Droolmonster , I am currently using a cleaner called C cleaner which I got off PC format a while ago.. Is that a good one to use? Oh.. and what is a game booster? Um.. do you mind telling me a good one.. then I can ask my dad to download it for me at his work place.. ^ ^ Thanks

Lemon369 , you know... I do not know where to get drivers... but you know looking at the hardware of the computer and then marking them down is troublesome... is there no program that allows me to just know what I am using? well I know there is DriveMax, but the thing is that is needs internet for everything.. >< It does not really creates a log, it just gives you an error, and that's it.. (and the send or don't send thingy...)

You know could it be that I am using service pack 2? Because I am using service pack 2... I do not know if I should install it... I did open a forum for installing service pack3.. but it only makes you computer go a little faster... that's all... right?

Anyway, thanks everyone!!

SharkBait , it is really kind of you... to offer.. but you know.. It would be really great if you can help.. but you know.. I do not even know where midrand is... mm... maybe I will be able to find out and get back to you?

Thanks a lot!!

Oh guys.. um... I asked some of my friends.. and then said it could be overheating.. could this problem be because of overheating? and if it is.. is there any program that can check what the temp is on my whole computer? I know there is a program that can check for CPU... but what about ram and others? Can anyone direct me into the right direction?
