So I have been taking it for a while now after reading how good it is for your immune system. They say it helps your body fight cancer, Hep C, HIV and all other kinds of things.

Have not had so much as a sniffle so far this winter. What do you guys think about it? What does our resident doctor think about it?

I dont know about it but my doctor says most of these things dont work.

Well...as far as I know this is not just one of those "supplements" they slap a nice label on and mean time all it has inside is fony palony herbs and crap. Moducare's active ingredients is sterols and sterolins which due to our high processed food intake is seriously lacking...and even if you do eat rawe veggies etc it is extremely hard for the body to extract these things from plants.

Studies have been conducted at the University of Stellenbosch and as far as I can remember the outcome was very positive. I did however have to reduce my intake because it was giving me acne outbreak on my back! The bottle says you should take 3 a day....I now only take one and the acne seems to have subsided...THANK THE GODS ABOVE! lol

Interesting, have you googled it? Not sure, will try ask my doc if he knows about it

Yeah...have done some reading...but being a blond much of it goes over my head. As I understand it it does not boost your immune system as many of these other things claim. It basically enhances and balances your immune system to make it more effective....so it will recognize cancer cells more effectively and elliminate them as the immune system is supposed to. I can be a rather gullible person though...so though I would ask for a opinion on here. lol

Haven't seen this or read up on it, but generally I am pretty suspect of supplements like these. I far prefer a balanced diet and active lifestyle over supplements to boost your immune system. Not saying it doesn't work, but I think it works the same way the Power Balance bracelets work *wink*

Moducare is an ingredient/component used in FutureLife. You can use this as a breakfast cereal, or make shakes with it. I have found (and several others too) that this really increases their sports performance. Take it before a long run or cycle and you have lots of VOOOMA!

Lol, anecdotes aren't evidence! The reality is, even though people refuse to believe it, all you'll get from these supplements is very expensive urine.

There is evidence that some supplements improve specific conditions.

I've used Moducare since before I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease even when flu season came about.

When I first started my Crohn's treatment I discovered the Moducare Plus version which is the all-in-one multivitamin and it made more sense to me purely for the fact that it's one in the morning and one in the evening and therefore less hassle.

Obviously I'm on other chronic medication so I can't claim it's a one true miracle drug, but when I've gone off it for extended periods I find my joint pains and arthritis issues come to the foreground a hell of a lot more.

Could be a reverse placebo effect I guess or just works especially well with Autoimmune/Inflammatory diseases, but also everybody is different so what works for me might not work for you, but it's worth a try at least.

It's the same stuff that goes into Futurelife as well.

Stop smoking .

If this product is sold over the counter and is not a scheduled drug, then you're wasting your money. If it not gone through FDA(US) or Medical Control Council (SA). Then you have no proof that the drug was even properly tested.

http://futurelife.co.za/the-science/ -> Snake oil , rip-off it a supplement meaning no MCC or FDA approval was needed or sawt. You're paying for expensive urine !

There is evidence that some supplements improve specific conditions.

Evidence is not a study sponsored by the manufacture which is then conducted by doctor on the manufactures pay-roll. Also most of the supplements have had studies done on them to ensure they aren't harmful but efficacy is rarely tested and if it is, it's done wrong no double blind trials ... blah blah .... supplement industry is biggest BS on earth.

Moducare® also corrects a variety of
autoimmune conditions (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis) usually arising from an excess secretion of inflammatory factors. However,
Moducare® is not a drug
: it does not interfere with any metabolic processes of either the patient or an infecting agent but it is rather
a catalyst or messenger initiating a correction of existing immune system imbalances or maintaining adequate existing balances. It
thereby helps an individual to maintain good health or fight a disease effectively. The use of Moducare® is ideal in conjunction with
drug treatments that tend to disturb the TH1:TH2 balance or where a disease results in a TH1:TH2 imbalance which a drug cannot
correct.

Read that document carefully and you'll notice all the studies were done only on the active ingredients, this actual supplement was never tested.

Huh? The active incredients IS the supplement.

Also, Moducare is manufactured by Aspen Pharmacare, our biggest pharma company. They have a pretty good reputation. Also, University of Stellenbosch was actually the ones doing the studies on it, not Aspen. I think they brought out this product because of the studies done by Stellenbosch. I could be wrong, but that is how I understood it.

Moducare contains plant sterols and sterolins the plus version also contains antioxidants which has proven health benefits. The effects of plant sterols and sterolins have been studied and they have shown to provide benefits to the immune system. There is a debate about this but the evidence shows that it is beneficial. The studies are published on the NCBI server and is available on PUBMed which both are internationally accepted sources of scientific evidence. There isn't much more scientific than those two, the studies are non-biast and there are studies that also worked to disprove the claims they found that they cannot, they did state however that not everyone reacts the same and some people may not show any improvements but there is no negative to taking the supplement.
Moducare plus does not provide 100% of the RDA of the vitamins so very little would be excreted in urine. The Vitamin A it contains is also beta-carotene which means you have almost no chance of Vit. A toxicity because beta-carotene is metabolised into Vit A and not the Vitamin itself. Also plant sterols and sterolins are excreted in feces and not urine well about 2% through urine IF any is excreted. Moducare is often used by immunocompromised individuals and it does help them. There is no downside to taking this supplement.

Funny my doctor is the one who suggested I try it. Because I specifically asked about something that could act as an "all in one" and reasonably affordable option as opposed to taking multiple things.

Maybe she is a hippy?

I am however convinced that my wrist pain at the very least is directly affected by it.
