So 'splain to me again why I am paying nearly R400 a month for a 4096 line when I only get the following:

Afrihost, capped account. I'm on my 9th gig for the month.

I think this is BOOOLshyte.

Ping is ridiculous as well. :/
I'm getting 330ms and 1900kb/s on shaped Mweb to NY.

Is your local okay?

LOL is afrihost throttling their capped customers as well now?

My local is fine. I was OK for most of the day, watching video online, but this afternoon it looks like all the sucking power in the world isn't helping my international access at all.

I've had great 4meg speeds this whole month and even now that I’m throttled to 1meg it’s still running at what a 1meg line is supposed to perform at.

Total usage sitting at 103GB

Afrihost did post the following in their Status Alert ....

ALERT: International consumer ADSL access

Last updated: 17h30, 13th May 2010

International ADSL access is currently suffering from degradation and increased latency.
Our upstream provider is currently implementing upgrades to the international path.
We sincerely apologize for the disruption in service and we thank you for your patience.

Maybe IS haven’t finished with their upgrading yet, so you can either give Afrihost a call or email them to find out if the problem is still with IS because of their upgrades?

Are any other users experiencing these slow speeds with an IS connection? I can't even sample audio on iTunes. I'm really fed up with the lack of support at Afrihost too. Bunch of wallys working there. :(

There doesn't seem to be an ISP dependant on IS that doesn't have issues. If you go through all the subscriber feedback threads you will find a mixed bag of results varying from totally happy people to those frustrated with the speeds you are getting. IS is apparently provisioning more bandwidth but this may only be able to be activated sometime next month.

As a good business practice the capped accounts should not be allowed to be affected by the uncapped accounts but some ISPs seem to have put all their eggs in one basket, like Afrihost.
