Good day everone.

Im about to join a medical aid but still cant decide between discovery or momentum. Does any one have experiance with them? any helpfull feedback.

Im either gona take coastal saver or incentive option with momentum. The health saver option with momentum also looks good as a added bonus.

Momentum is not as good as discovery and the Nu Metro benefit doesn't work on the website as well as being offline at the cinema. This is if you take multiply.
Its cheaper to book a hotel direct with protea even though momentum supposedly offers 35% discount.

As a medical aid they aren't bad at all. The nice thing about health saver is that you can build up a nice saving booster easily.

I've never had a stitch of trouble with Momentum, vs tons of complains my mates had with Discovery.

That said, I think the health saver gimmick is nonsense. It's your money that they hold and you can only use it with them...I doubt you even get interest on it. Best to just save that cash in your own account if you're financially mature enough not to spend it. The gym options and all that isn't as great as discovery, but as a medical aid it works fine.

Im looking at clean medical aid benefits, not vitality vs multiply. A question about the health saver, can you take out the funds if you do leave momentum later on?

I must agree on the health saver option. I'm thinking about dropping it come next renewal and then just put that money on my savings account for when I need it. I don't see why I need to pay someone else to hold my money and tell me on what medicine I can and cannot spend it.

That being said, I've been with Discovery for many years and haven't had any problems.

Also just moved to Fedhealth. Discovery and Momentum are too expensive.

Just go for a hospital plan, you aren't gaining anything with the saver plans

You actually need to look at these companies as more than just medical aid, and how you can benefit your health, lifestyle and finances by making use of their various offers and options.

I am with Momentum, have Multiply and Health Saver. As I use the gym benefit on Multiply and I go for my annual check-up, and because I have Health Saver account, Momentum transfer R450 into my Health Saver every month over and above my monthly Health Saver premium. I also get discounts on certain polices like Life Insurance, Disability and Retirement due to my medical aid being with Momentum, having Multiply, and having risk policies with them.

I was lucky in the sense I found a very good broker that only deals with Momentum that he explained and tailors my portfolio to get the most out with the least payments per month.

The saying "Don't put all your eggs into one basket" actually isn't true when it comes to companies like Discovery and Momentum. Find a good broker and see where you can benefit.

Didn't realise that Momentum provided medical aid plans. Cannot knock them. My experience is worth Discovery. Have been on Discovery note since +/- 2006. Haven't had any hassles. So far so good.
