I was wondering is there is any kind of benchmark to know what amount of gold one should have at a specific level? I know you need about 100 g around level 40 for the mount. But for example what would be considered to be a reasonable amount at level 10 and upwards. What is the best way to make money in WOW? :)

I'm only lvl 19 and I have more than 100 Gold.

But a good question though.

Well the best way to make money is to buy rare items like epics and trying to sell them for alot more than u boght it for or u could mine alot and sell that on AH :)

herbalism and mining make the most gold by far ... and when u hit 70 its like owning ur own bank

I have Mining and Smithing.

I up'd my smithing exp. Bought some patterns for really cool gear and bam. They sell like hot cakes.

I started playing wow over a month ago, and have scrounged through many a guide.

Your first character should be a hunter, it has the fastest leveling vs time & money as your pet takes most if not all the agro and damage. And you dont neen any leet gear.

I can post a skill set for solo farming on a hunter if you like.

Your hunter becomes your cash-cow for your other characters.

I recommend mining as one of your profs, the other can be whichever you choose. you can always take herbalism and drop it for a sumin like blacksmithing at a later stage.

Depending on which server your on, selling 20 bars of copper can get you about 1 gold easilly on the Auction house, so ore grinding for a day can prob net you all the gold you need for your current and future endevours.

my 2c

I'm thinking about taking up mining as i'm now level 44 and only have a very high skinning skill. I like skinning because you level up with the monsters you kill, I wish I took up leatherworking at the beginning though because for the lowerlevel items you need low level leather which is a schlepp to procure when your skinning for thick leathers.

From the people I'm in my guild with I know that alchemy and making health pots gets you quite a bit of money.

I buy alot of Leather. 1 Of the main ingredients for Smithing.. Skinners also make some nice gold ;)

The best way to make money is just to play the game. By the time I reached level 40 I had 300 gold, and during those 40 levels I bought alot of gear, leveled engineering from scratch, and then dropped it to level tailoring. If I had worked more carefully with my cash I could have had 700 gold easy.

There are a number of ways to do it, and as to whether you can make money out of a trade skill is very realm dependent. Before BC the old realms with a lots of bored 60 now the new realms with bored 70's dont help much as no one want your product and it costs a fortune to level up the skill try Jewel crafting....!

Your first toon is always the hardest, you dont know were you are going half the time and you always seem short of cash. Personally I followed the route of levelling as fast as possible with just enough cash to get the right items at the appropriate times mounts etc and not worring about skill or gear to much. I then went back once I hit 70 and spent a week or so levelling up my skills. At 70 you can lv mining from 0 - 150 in a couple of hrs. Go on early one morning before the farmers and it very quick. You can quite easily run around in the lower instances BDR etc getting stuff. Once you have a flying mount you can drop down on the ore deposits so little or no fighting time is needed.

After that, if you stay on the same realm you can kit out your alts with greens and blues and cash and they in turn will have no money worries. At 70 you can farm 50g plus an hr quite easily. Simple quests give 10 - 12g.

Now I just need that epic flying mount or maybe I will wait for the next patch and get that Netherdrake!

I must say I find grinding rep much more time consuming/boring than the trade skills.

Yeah I'm level 44 and have just dropped leatherworking for mining and finding it very profitable. The items (even low items such as copper) are sought after in the AH and go very quickly if you have competitive prices. I suggest if you aren't already use auctioneer to get a feel of what the lowest prices are. The trick is i've found that if there are lots of trade goods etc auctioned then go for a faily middle of the road price. You will sell your stuff a bit faster if you post the lowest price but you often find the guys will bid a bit higher for and take a little longer to sell.

Best way to make money in AH:

Put the item with a start price... matching the lowest. Don't put a buy-out price. I get more Gold that way ;)

There any many ways of making gold. Iam a miner and a smithy so I dont sell my mined ores.

I basically go the ah rought and find rare items going for cheap (compare the item on http://www.wowhead.com/) if its going for cheap buy it and sell it for the suggested price, 90% of the time i get my price. I put my start price and buyout price close together (eg: start 90g, buyout 95g). Always check the trade channel you can get good deals there as the ppl there are in a hurry (most of the time) to get the g for the item.

Another way I go is finding out where rare spawns, spawn and I go there once a week. I only farm those who drop rare items. eg. there is a rare spawn in WC just before you enter the instance in the lake. He always drops a rare item (quick way of making 25g for 5 min work. There are many other rare spawns check www.thottbot.com under rare items and see who drops them.

Grind the graveyard in SM. quick way of getting some good greens and a blue (maybe) & loads of silver. The NPC's there are not elite.

Grind the Whelpings in the Dustwallow Marsh and Badlands, if you lucky you will pickup a Dark Whelping (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=10822) I put this little guy in the ah, advertised on the trade channel (start 90g buyout 100g) not even a minute later it was sold.

What is the best way to make money in WOW? :)

quest in outlands!! vendor trash !!! then pick skinning or mining.

made 600 gold last night skinning in outlands.

last but not least grind primals, mostly go for fire mote/ primals.Best time do this is about 5 am in the morning cos loads of bots nowadays sit there and just grind and grind! plus the usless essences u get from the mobs u can sell for like 4 gold for 10 to a vendor.

If u thinking about making money from lvl 1 - 60 in azeroth u prolly wont make alot, save your money and AH all useless blues (BOE) at the AH for twinks.

on the subject.

Why is "Green Iron shoulders","Green Iron Helm", "Green Iron Gauntlets" so bloody high in demand ? It's just Iron with Dye... +Strengh and +Staming

I just find it strange... I can make many better things but these sell like no-ones business

those items for mid to late 20's i think

they good for twinks thats all
