I have a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW LCD Monitor.

I have noticed the image jumps a few pixels to the right and down.

The scroll bar is still visible on the right hand side, but cut off to the middle. The windows time etc on Windows 7 is still visible but just just cut off at the bottom of the date-stamp.

The issue resolves when I

A) Turn the monitor off. (Within 500ms the monitor adjusts correctly and the turns off) - When I turn it back on again it's fine, within 10 minutes it jumps back)

B) Press the menu button to pull up the small OSD. Then it also instantly corrects itself.

Whats up?

It's exhibiting counter-revolutionary tendencies. :p

How old is the monitor?
Have you tested the monitor using a LiveCD? The problem could be software-based.

This is why you use DVI-D and not VGA. Btw, why don't you use the DVI cable with that screen, because it has DVI-D input.

Sorry for delayed replies.

@Pada: I am using the DVI-D port on both my PC and my monitor.

@dj_jyno: The monitor is old.. it from 2006.

The reason I believe it is not software related is because whenever I merely press the "menu" button on the monitor it jumps back those few millimeters.

When I turn the monitor on and off it also readjusts correctly.

Is this simply an age thing? I find it odd that it readjusts itself when you just press menu for example. There doesnt seem to be something WRONG. Sort of just something is getting the monitor to incorrectly display its x, y axis after a few minutes.

I can try with a live cd or another PC... see if it does it. Perhaps there is something on sending the monitor a strange signal from the computer?

With DVI-D it shouldn't move at all.

First test the screen with another PC and if it shows the same symptoms then it is most likely a faulty screen.

The monitor is rather old. Uploading a youtube video quick to demonstrate what is happening.

The problem is very small however rather irritating when it occurs on the right hand side.

EDIT:

It is important to note.

1) Sometimes it is worse than others.
2) It happens again within 5 to 10 minutes.

This should fix it:
