Hey~

Um my monitor keeps going on and off... Like there isn't really a set interval.. but it just does it at random.. I want to ask what could be the cause of this problem?

Could it be because of the monitor or the computer?

Please help.. at the moment that I am typing this message.. my monitor is going on and off..

Thanks

could be a virus changing resolutions or setting it to sleep mode too often.

I see.. but my Anti virus doesn't show anything.. scanned it.. could there be another problem?

Um I did also google it.. some says that the monitor could be giving in.. (I have had this monitor for a while..)
Some says the grapihcs card is giving in.. ok i don't know whether it is or not.. and also.. some says that the power supply has leakages which causes the problem.. and another guy said it was the overheating of the graphics card... but now I have a huge fan next to the computer.. blowing at full force.. but there is still the black screen.. sigh

And drivers as well.. but you know.. everything was working fine this morning.. I was stil playing modern warfare 2 this morning.. no problem at all..

Oh.. and I did add another 512Ram to the computer just now.. could that be the problem?

I don't think ram will affect the screen.. will it?

if it started after you added ram it might be your psu.... what's the brand name and rating?

maybe take it out and check if it still does it - ram is quick and easy to add/remove...

well I did now now.. and the computer works fine...

So does that mean my computer cannot take so many hardware at the same time?

um.. It's 400Watt PSU The name is proline.. I dont' know what rating it has...

Um.. can I tell you all of what I have... and check?

P4 3.0
1Gig ram
160GB HDD
500GB HDD
Network card
Wireless netgear USB adaptor
DVD 21x
4 small fans
1 big fan

I wonder if that is enough, because I did check with someone.. and the said it's more than enough..

Oh and my graphics card is GF 6600 (agp)

And the other time I tried to add another gig ram in.. and it always gave me a blue screen.. come to think of it.. could it also be the fact that my PSU isn't strong enough?

Sigh so many problems..

But I guess this can be solved by getting a new one?

Could be faulty RAM or incompatible RAM.

Try just running the one stick giving you the BSoDs?

PSU shouldn't be the problem.

Um.. it's not the ram.. I returned it.. and they gave it back to me after doing the ram test twice.. so.. I think it's my computer.. well I can't return the ram now.. wasted my money.. how do you actually know when the ram can fit your motherboard or not?

Like my problem... How will I know before hand?

put only the new ram in, and remove the old - then see what happens

to figure out what is causing the problem you need to swap around and take note of what configurations work and what doesn't.

i had the same issue, not sure if its your problem, but mine was caused by the new Intel graphics driver being buggy, had to install the previous version

When the monitor goes off does it say "no signal" (or similar) or does it just turn off completely? Have you tried the monitor with a different PC?

I have tried it.. but it's not the monitor, it's the PC.. the monitor works fine..

what happens is when I goes off.. the screen goes black.. (like when first switch on computer..) and then it comes on again.. does it very often!

Well it seems like.. the computer is still like that even without the new ram in... don't know what is going on... sigh

well the graphics drivers has been installed for a very long time.. plus it's from the nag mag.. so I don't know whether it was the graphics.. but will install again and tried..
