Monitor selection - help required

Hi all,

If you were given a choice of a Samsung / HP or LG monitor which would you choose?

If you had a choice of a Samsung T240 / 2333SW / 2494HS which would you choose?

Is the LG W2243S worth it?

Reason I ask is I currently have an HP 2207w monitor and am exremely happy with it and need an additional monitor...but the HP is going to cost R4500 in comparison to the other two brands...

Your advice is appreciated!

I'd get a Samsung monitor over all those brands. They make the best monitors IMO.

Bigger is better so i'd go for the T240

Are you going to run them side by side? If yes then get the HP. Even a pair of deuces beats an ace and a deuce.

Does the HP have an IPS panel or why is it so expensive?

The T240 runs 1920x1200 which makes it superior to the others running 1920x1080

I have 2x 2333SW's and am very happy with them. In all honesty, the 0.4" fifference between the T240 and the 2333 is not noticable - so I'd go with the cheaper option based on what you need. The 2333SW has DVI and VGA inputs, no HDMI - do you really need HDMI on a PC monitor anyway? If so, use a DVI-to-HDMI adapter...

Keep in mind - if you're going to use the monitors with a dual-arm system, then the T240 does not have the VESA mounts.

I went with the dual screen setup and used an Aavara dual-arm to mount the monitors - looks great and functions well.

If i were him, instead of buying another HP at that insane price i'd just sell the current LCD and get 2 even 3 2333SW's and it will still be cheaper than that HP LCD

That will work too. I just know from experience that having two screens side-by-side that are not the same WILL drive you loopy.

The W2207 is older with lower resolution, it has one of the best stands that I've seen though. I would have the T240/T260(if you don't need to mount them).

There is a huge difference in size between the T240 and the 2333. The 2333 is 16:9 not 16:10 like the T240. The 2333 looks tiny compared to my 5:4 19".

My primary usage would be HD video editing / Adobe Master Suite CS4 usage. Resolution is important, so are looks. No mounting necessary.

I think I will do more shopping around online before I make a purchase.

Looks like the Samsung T series win the day. I must admit though, the HP monitor is still awesome even after 2yrs (stand is the best I have used).
