Have you plugged it into another pc? It might be the GPU.

Hey,

I had a friend with this problem. This might be the cause of it, however, it could be one of many other reasons as well.

When the issue started it took about 10-15 mins for the monitor to turn on. After about two weeks it took 4 hours to turn on (this is when winter started). It takes longer if it's colder.

He eventually resorted to heating the back panel up with a hair dryer to get it to turn on quicker.

When I opened up his monitor (Samsung 19") I found that one of the capacitors was swollen at the top. I didn't fix his but I think that is what caused it. I was going to replace it but he got a newer monitor instead so we left it.

If your monitor is under warranty then send it in for repair. If it isn't, take it to a friend who knows electronics (or you can do it if you are technically inclined) and check out the capacitors on the board.

See if any of them are swollen or bulging out at the top or sides. Google for some info and howto's on how to buy and replace those caps as it is a common issue (happens with ageing of electronics).

Like I said, this a possible cause.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Thanks, yes i tried it on several other pc's but still nothing.

Does the light come on and then go off? What brand/model is it?
By far the most common cause for a dead LCD monitor is a faulty power supply which is easily repaired/replaced by a repair agent.

Did you try using another the D-Sub/VGA/DVi cable?

Does the monitor come on and off very quickly when turned on. Try shining a torch on to the screen and see if you see the image.

You might have the 2 second to black syndrome - very common on LCD's. Its when the CCFL's blow.
