Got my tax return and after paying off my Credit Card i have some spare cash and i am thinking about investing in a monitor as my Laptop is terrible.....

Any one got some good suggestions? Aside from buying a Mac

Research has shown that the Samsung screens and Dell are pretty good - Dell is just way more expensive.

So at the moment tending towards a 19" or 22" Flat screen from Samsung.

I have me a Samsung 22" and its gorgeous...

It has only one failing in my mind, and thats not having VESA compliant mounting holes on the back of the monitor... other than that they're gorgeous and I'm contemplating getting a 2nd one for my xmas present :)

// VESA compliant mounting holes?!?

Is this critical considering it probably going to be a stand on a desk?

Cause i am also liking their prices considerable more than a lot of other brands

Well for me it is a small issue, since I'm going to have 2 22" and a 42" LCD in front of me.... and I wanted the 2 22" on top of each other....

Ended up getting this

Nice - how much?

Pity they not full HD but still decent.

R2085

// Got it through my bro's retail company via his Sahara account - about 300 bucks cheaper than the cheapest i could find online

Yea there was a Full HD option but it was 3800 or something to that effect

I've found that its almost impossible to get a decent medium to top end LCD monitor in this country. It seems as though the distributors only import screens based on TN panel technology (flatpanels can't tell me what panel is in the 2253GW, but I'm willing to bet it's TN).

Here is a very useful post on another forum for anyone looking to buy an LCD. Unfortunately, it doesn't help too much as you can't get the decent stuff if you read my post in the same thread :(
