As I always say, house rules apply. It depends on whos house you are playing at, their rules will apply to the game.
If they want to auction, you auction. If they don't know about that rule and they choose not to auction, you do not auction.

The first time I was introduced to this rule was when playing a version of this game for MS-DOS on PC.I honestly never remember this rule at all, will check my manual when I get home

Enjoyed it the few times I played. Quite fun without all the waiting & money shuffling of regular monopoly. Also a lot easier for kids to play & the game moves nice & quick.Never even heard of it before

I picked it up on bobshop and got a Chinese copy lol.
