I'm wondering how the cap works? From the 1st to the 1st?
Or from the First day of instlation to a month...

24h00 on last day of month cap is reset.

Usual MO is to have 2.9999GB left on 24h00 of second last day. Then run full steam the whole day on the last day. Get capped and uncapped simultanously at 24h00 on the last day. You can normally download full speed on the first two days of the new month. But then you will be capped for the remainder of the month.

Crazily its from the 1st to the 31st. If they realy wanted to save their bandwidth they would run it from your signup date to the same date the next month.

Keep in mind that bandwidth usage is logged only when you get disconnected and I think they average your usage over the hours if you disconnect past midnight, which is something you should watch out for on the 31st if you downloading a lot that day.

2g

So would I be correct in saying that I have my full 2G to use before the end of the month?

If only they carried any (hmmmm...) bandwitch over from one month to the next, like if one goe son holiday and does not use full 3g in the month they should carry it over..... well, maybe in our next lives!@

;-)

It is actually ridiculous from Telkom to let everybody's cap run from the first to the first. Should they stagger the capping it will mean that not everybody will content for the same "shared" bandwidth at the end of the month - rather the usage of the shared bandwidth will be spread out, maybe even making it usable. A simple modification like that would make everybody's live easier, with zero cost to telscum.

Holdit guys

Be careful of making any suggestions that capping is FAIR AT ALL! :-D

davep001, Check your usage next month and you may find you'll need to upgrade to the 3gig account.

The reason is that the 2gig account, once your capped, goes stone dead - you can't do anything online. The 3gig account still allows you to surf locally at normal speeds.

# 2GB Shaped
With this option you will be allowed 2GB of shaped up- and downloads combined which will also include both local and international bandwidth. Similar to the option detailed above the allocated bandwidth will apply to a calendar month and will be reset on the first day of every month and expire on the last day of that month.

Should you reach the allocated bandwidth, you will be disconnected from accessing the Internet or mail on the ADSL network. You will still be able to access the Internet over a dialup modem making use of your TelkomInternet powered by ADSL account.

This option is only available with the Standard package.

2gig a month isn't a lot - it's about 60meg a day, which is damn easy to use up.
With medium to heavy surfing and a bit of online music I can just about get by on 3gig in a month.

When you move from dialup to "always on" ADSL, it's pretty amazing and you tend to do a LOT more - I can virtually guarantee you'll use up your 2gig next month before the end of it !

Wait until...

You get a mass-mailing bug on your machine that thrashes out 2 gig a day to the smtp server - hahahahaha! (sorry - had to mention that - it happens often)

i have the 2gb account but i have only been capped internationally I can still access all za sites at relatively fast speeds... weird...

I'm on 3.2GB total this month!! and still going... any ideas???
