More ANC joy: 6 Provinces

Imagine the savings that can be generated by shutting down 2 useless provinces and their pathetically inefficient bureaucracies?

/sees plenty of nervous civil servants in Bhisho and Polokwane :D

But DA leader and Western Cape Premier Helen Zille immediately dismissed the proposal as nothing but "gerrymandering boundaries to ensure that the DA cannot win provincial elections". "It would be disastrous for service delivery, most importantly. This will only make large inefficient provincial governments even bigger, more internally divided and further removed from the people. "We will resist these gerrymandering proposals to the limit. Most South Africans will see through them." Zille said the proposal was "extremely complex, divisive, and unpopular in the ANC". "It has no hope of going further than an internal ANC document," she said.
Just want to point this out.
You can say the ANC wants to do this or that, but the fact is it's an internal ANC proposal document and the proposal itself is very unpopular within the ANC. So a faction in the ANC brought it to the table does not mean this is what the ANC wants to do. I think people forget sometimes that the ANC has different factions with different ideas and is not as unified as they would like us to believe and as time goes by it's becoming more and more fractured. I agree with Zille that this is sensationalist and has no hope of going further than an internal ANC document

joelus I think many of us realise that, but it is quite enlightening to see evidence of how the minds of some ANC people work (or not, as the case may be)

...the ANC has different factions with different ideas and is not as unified as they would like us to believe...

No, no. We're completely aware of that. The right hand fingers its way through the till while the left hand scratches a bald dome which is trying to think up more stupid ideas.

WTF To use the word ANC and mind in the same sentence, is a embarrassment to the human species :D

Why do these various factions try to outdo one another in being stupid? Or is it that the clever ANC types have looted enough and are now enjoying spending it and not bothering to contribute anymore?

Exactly. That just points even more towards what the intentions behind this really are.
The person announcing these proposals is none other than Nomaindia Mfeketo, the ex Mayor of Cape Town. Her tenure in Cape Town still leaves a bad taste in our mouths here. It took the DA, when they won Cape Town, 2 years to get rid of all the hangers on, in other words consultants she employed to perform her duties when she was Mayor.
She is none other than an ANC Yes-Auntie and a poor one at that.

Perhaps it isn't difficult to reason why these structures need changing? More consultants, more paperwork, more detail, more money. You see, the devil is in the detail. I guarantee you that by the time the Provinces are demarcated, many Billions would have been spent in achieving these goals through consulting firms and the like, all of which are owned by friends of friends. Someone somewhere, who is connected will be raking in millions.

We have seen the reinvention of the wheel so many times with the ANC. At first I thought it was the new broom sweeping clean and our new Government trying to do things better, but my gut is saying no, the money to be made in this country is hidden in the detail of consulting firms and services provided to Government to do all these changes. You don't think Government is going to do it do you?
We have seen so many changes with our Education system, each time it costs Billions to change, that money isn't disappearing into space, it is lining the pockets of people affiliated to the ruling party. What seems like meaningful change is nothing other than money laundering, there was no need for the changes, there is no need to reinvent the wheel.

With all due respect I would have accepted changes here and there, but enough is enough, the world is in a recession, people are struggling to make ends meet, Government is fiddling at the helm, our money is being wasted on new planes, consultants and a list of things too long to mention. Service delivery is a non entity in many part of South Africa, Government should be focusing on what is important, not moving provincial boundaries once again.

Maybe Nomaindia Imperfekto is still bitter about losing the Cape? This is her attempt at revenge?

Merge Northern Cape, Western Cape and some parts of Eastern Cape. A combined Cape could give the ANC an upper hand over the DA in an election

Some people in SA think the ANC are a bunch of idiots, they are sly.

More expansion in provinces = more senior executives and more councillors = more corruption and self enrichment.

The cANCer cant manage the provinces, corruption and irregularities as it is now they want to expand.

Bunch ot total tw@ts

:erm: they want less provinces, not more :wtf:

Provinces cannot be changed without changing the constitution, and the ANC does not have the 2 thirds majority in parliament they require to change the consitution, so this won't happen unless some other political party with enough MPs decides to join the ANC in its quest to change the constitution.

Completely agree. The moves in the last few years have been based entirely on staying in power legally, but unethically. Increase the number of social grants to buy lots of votes. Raise racial fears against the DA. Re-arrange the voting boundaries (admittedly they stole this one from the nats). Bring up nationalisation. All very shrewd moves indeed. The nats stayed in power for 60 years and had to virtually destroy the economy with sanctions before giving up power, I wonder what it will take for the ANC to do the same. It would be great not to know the outcome of an election in South Africa one day. In the last 80 years it's been a foregone conclusion every time...
