Johannesburg - Talks over a salary increase within the military were expected to get underway in Johannesburg on Thursday, the SA National Defence Union said.
Sandu spokesperson Jeff Dubazana said on Wednesday the union wanted an increase of 30% across the board, as well as salary parity.
"Members have a package of demands. We want 30% across the board but it's not enough to achieve parity within the security cluster."
The union further wanted those employed under grades 1, 2 and 3 to be promoted to a grade 4 level.
'Sisulu doesn't belong'
Top of the agenda for Thursday's planned meeting with the Military Bargaining Council (MBC) was a call for the dismissal of Defence Minister Lindiwe Sisulu.
Representatives from the SA Security Forces Union (Sasfu) were expected to be present at the meeting.
"We are demanding the minister's dismissal because she is a danger not only to the department but also to the public," said Dubazana.
"She doesn't belong in this department and this government. We want someone with experience, someone who knows the history of the military."...
