More baby questions

If anyone bought these products, I would appreciate some input on which brands you found preferable i.t.o quality and value for money-

1. Baby monitor - Angelcare? Phillips? Lindam?

2. Electric bottle steriliser

3. Nappy bin / nappy disposal system

We bought the Angelcare one. Worked well for my daughter and then 3 years later for my son. It now is being used by a friend of ours.
The new ones are awesome, come with a thermometer in the room. We also got the breathing mat. It went a long way to helping my wife sleep better.
We never actually used bottles so I cannot comment on the steriliser.

As for the nappy bin we bought one of those turny things that takes a normal plastic bag. Works ok, except it doesnt keep the odour of the more mature nappies in.
Tho in my experience nothing keeps the odour of them in. These include the zip lock bags and the sticky seal things.
 
1)We got given an Angelcare Monitor with the sensor pad thingy and I must say champion range is good and I like the idea of the sensor pad.
2)We use a microwave bottle sterilizer
3)Spar\Checkers\PnP bags :p

1. We also used angel care, and they work very well, especially the breathing mat. That being said, I think they are over priced.

2. They work OK, but go for the microwave steriliser. We could sterilise 6 bottles in one go, and they cost about R120.

3. We used an angel care bin, with one of those cartridges. Works well.

Does Reggies/Toys R Us/all the normal stockists also carry the nappy bins?

1. We use the Lindam ones. Been good through 2 young ones now.

2. We used the Avent steriliser in microwave. Simple. Easy to load & clean afterwards.

3. Pik-it-up ;)
 
Angelcare monitor with sensor pad...best investment with the baby yet. Have peace of mind...he sleeps, we can watch TV/movies and monitor him from anywhere in the house. Angelcare nappy disposal system is nice...bit pricey in terms of refills for nappy bags...but its nice.
 
Had a baby monitor, can't remember the brand, no pads or anything as after lots of research we realized they would be pointless and cumbersome (we took it with when visiting friends as well).
Microwave bottle sterilizer, lots of space, easy to pack away, even used it to sterilize bottles for chili sauces (beware, glass gets very hot in these).
Never had a nappy bin, nappies went straight into the outside bin every morning and as they were made dirty through the day.

We also use the microwave one, and it works like a charm

1) AngelCare with breathing mat. This is brilliant and worth every cent.
2) Avent electronic sterilizer, we tried to stay clear of the microwave.
3) Angelcare nappy bin. Works very well in containing the odour and handy to have in the baby room.
 
We are thinking about kids in the next 18 months or so...
So I am following blu's threads quite a bit :)
cant believe how much crap you need to buy and how expensive it is!

You don't need to buy all that stuff, it's just for larney people.

Possibly, however, i think it will be easier to buy the stuff than tell my g/f (then wife) who has just had a baby no.
 
Cant recall what brand the baby monitor was - the kids slept in our room for so long it was hardly used. :o

We had these nifty little Microwave Sterilisation Bags, used them each 20 times then chucked them away. Very handy and more importantly very portable.
