More channels yanked from TopTV??

TopTV was due to be shut down and liquidated on 30 April but they approved an offer from StarTimes (Chinese company) for a 20 % stake in the company. Hopefully things will start picking up once everything is signed and the cash becomes available.

How is it going to pick up?

Better be soon. If Fox goes, the Entertainment package will be useless. :(

You guess is as good as mine. StarTimes reckon they can turn it around and shake up the industry. But talk is cheap...

Yep, agreed.

What erks me the most is that whenevr this sort if thing happens, TopTV stays mum. No press releases or explanations. Their PR people are bloody useless.

I'm starting to wonder whether it is worth it now, Discovery Science was one of my favourites. If they drop it then I'll be cancelling.

I know what will happen, but it does not involve Top TV "picking up" any time soon.

They're biggest fault was heavily subsidising installations. They basically pay for the dish and labour of the install, with the intention of making back that money after the client paid subscriptions for a few months. Many people switched of before that money was recovered. This will have to stop, so either their contract needs to change, or they need to stop subsidising.

Also, they'll probably change their target market. This will mean more changes in the channel line-up I'm afraid... and they might very well still go under. It is a sinking ship after all, held up temporarily by a small floatation device.

Why don't they just put some retail adverts on to help with cash flow?

They need to get XTRAVIEW function on decoders, because in most household people want to watch different channels at a time. This is 1 of the factors why people rather go for dstv.
