Okay last week we all had IS problems. Now given that pings are higher than ever before, but that a telkom issue.
Everything seems normal, newsgroups and everything. But there is one very wierd problem. If anybody ever says that IS local is not shaped, then they are talking crap. I base my theory on the following single seeded torrent. It is host on an IS ip. if i use my SAIX account, the torrent is full speed. If I use my IS account, then its not even 1 KB/s and disconnects often. so peering between IS and SAIX is better than between IS and IS. huh? thats wierd.
I still maintain that IS is the fastest one the first couple of days of the month. If you check you logs you'll see that the first couple of days when you are within your cap then the usage is high, after that, it drops off.
Weekends are another issue. If big business is at home, and we why is the network not faster? i mean surely if its only recreational use of the network it should perform better. Are they trying to save bandwidth?
The thing that is most interesting is why do only some people have these problems, or is it only a select bunch that complain. As far as i'm concerned if i can use my DSL line to host, i want to be able to do more with it than just surf and email. I want some kind of value. This is the value that has been getting less, first with the telkom 192 20KB limit, then with IS downtime and continuing problems.
Look its really cute that you die hards support them the way you do and they are telkom's only real competition (read customer) but i still think they can do a better job.
I've seen some of there uncapped solutions and the quality is awesome. Like local VPNs saturating the lines the whole day. why does the dsl arena suck like this.
I know its a case of take it or leave it, but really in this day and age, we really have a big, digusting and embarrising communication setup in our country.
