I have received an email regarding the "the launch of SkyBurst" and the info is good, but they forget to mention one thing: Installation and Pricing info.
I have checked the website, but same there:
http://www.iburst.co.za/neuvo.aspx?link=get_packages_skyeburst

Where can I get more info on this product? I would like to know if it would be a good alternative to iBurst Wireless and 3G. And with "good alternative" I refer to competitive price, good speed as well as stability and low latency.

Please can an Iburst representative respond to clarify the pricing and why it wasn't included in the article?

I just called them. It costs R5500 for installation and R800 for 1 gig. For 30 gigs it is R15500 per month. This is aimed for SME's

:wtf:
"R15500 per month" + "This is aimed for SME's" = does not compute....

No wonder they never added the the pricing. All I can say is good luck with selling that.

Cheap affordable and good service = more clients

Ridiculous Prices = no clients

What about ones at remote locations?

From the web page:
The ideal solution for high speed internet connections over satellite suited to network edge or remote locations nationally.

There are very few SME's that will actually be able to afford 15+ K per month just for internet access, especially those in remote locations.

For 15k per month I'd consider moving somewhere closer if high-speed internet access were that important to me to begin with. Maybe a few desperate people will pick up 1gb for R800 per month, but that is still ludicrous.

If I had a hotel game lodge or resort I would definately not pay R15 000 + per month just for internet access. There are much cheaper options available.
And all the lodges, game farms, etc that I have been to (and some of them are very far from anywhere) all have pretty decent cellphone reception as there are towers close by.

+ 1 000 000 000 000 000 000 00- oh, you get the idea...

So....this is iburst...hey awesome valued clients, we can offer you 4mb connection speed
BUT we will charge you 15000 rand for it or you can keep your dial up iburst wireless connection for 200 rand.

Haha o iburst you naughty buggers.

Ps. What do the iburst staff use at home?

Ps ps. I hate you. ;-)

And how many of those are there that are going to pay 15k per month? Do you have a research report on this? Of course not. Sounds like another pipe dream doomed for failure tbh. The world is moving forward, not backwards...even here in Africa.
