Dear Bewgol...

Before I get started with the trouble of having to cancel your month to month account (which is supposed to a non-bound contract), in addition to trying to get hold of someone to speak to at iBust, I would firstly like to take note that if you are trying to make use of DC++ or any other service akin to that, on iBust, then you are not going to get any joy from it other than aggravation. All these services haven't be blocked as such, however, if you are able to obtain more than 1kb/sec, then you are doing extremely well.

From what has been seen, before this limitation, iBurst had decided to take action against those who make use of such services by suspending their contract if it exceeded, what they call abuse, around an accumulative 40GB for the month. Besides the fact that only an estimated 20 people would make use of DC++ near the end of the month to share files, supposedly, we are the reason for clogging up the network. Firstly, this is impossible and secondly, this is not our issue. Lets be generous and say iBurst purchases the speed of 25GBit/sec of bandwidth for 50 000 users. That would then, in essence, be 0.5MBit/sec per subscriber. So, rhetorically, 20 scattered subscribers (making use of 0.010GBit/sec) are flooding their server?

On other note, with concern to getting slow speeds before or after you are capped, please also take to heart the wonderful tag line that iBust enables you go get up to 1Mbit/sec - converted to be around 100kb/sec (yes, let me remind you, we live in the south of Africa somewhere).

Yes, by no mistake, you are able to obtain such speeds, if you manage to stick toothpicks near your eyes. The tagline should rather read a consistant speed or say something along the lines that you can obtain up to 10kb/sec and anything thereafter is because of the leprechaun. Thank you iBurst for your trial period! It it really something to reminisce about. More importantly, recently, it was scientifically proven by me, again, that my dialup modem can download about 20GBs in a month with a consistant speed of 4.8kb/sec (95% accurate) for under R200 extra on my telkom bill opposed to 3.5GB at fluctuating speeds of 20kb/sec (70% accurate) for R600 per/month. You can also easily expect11kb/sec for peak busines hours such as lunch hours and close of day.

So, now you may ask, what other tricks do they have up their sleeves? Well, if you feel the need to subscribe, your best solution is that you should have already put in notice to unsubscribe, before reading this message, since your request will only come into affect 30/31 days after now, at the time of their next debit. A few hours will make or break you. Even though the cancellation form says you may subscribe in seven days, that is vague, hence untrue since it only applies to newly subscribed customers. By the way, I forgot to mention, that the suspension of your account applies to both month-to-month and contract subscribers. If you wish to choose a cheaper or more expensive package with iBust, be my guest, and please notice the package change fee that is imposed of about R150. Your best bet when cancelling your subscription is to write the day that you would like to terminate your account by sending through the form (or email - which I would prefer not to do since they could say it got lost) and thereafter going to the bank to stop the monthly debit. I would not consider this fraud, by you, especially since a month-to-month customer would want sign up to such a package and buy the modem, for that reason. Since we live in South Africa, there is more of a chance of you being assaulted and robbed for your wallet and if the non-entity is caught, then he would be placed in jail for a few days, given a few free meals, saying his sorry speech and thereafter let out. If you or your family cannot make use of a service, properly or at all, then why should your money be stolen?

To be continued...

Yours Sincerenly,
GIGtech

You should actually be sending this straight to [email protected]

He, from a FIRST HAND account, is the one behind all these service crippling decisions such as cutting people off and blocking dc++.

(If you can't figure out who that email address belongs too, then read some more news about Vodacom's lovely hand swirling around ibursts stew)

Should be a sticky and labelled New Potential Subscribers Be Warned

I think the speed section could safely be replaced by : Test your iBurst signal/connection at your premises before you buy. You don't have to be getting 11kb/s during the day, and you can get around 1mbps.

The last paragraph could be stickied.. and the part about P2P being blocked. So basically yes. :p
