At least 31 people were killed and more than 100 injured on Monday in a suicide bombing at Russia’s biggest airport, Russian news agencies reported.

Russia’s rouble-dominated stock market MICEX fell by nearly two percent following the blast, which ripped through the baggage claim area at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport at 1332 GMT (1:32 p.m. British time).

Smoke wafted out of the baggage claim area and people were seen running out of the emergency exits at the airport, local media reported.

Initial casualty figures were contradictory with ITAR-TASS saying about 20 people had been killed. A spokeswoman for prosecutors put the number of casualties at about 20.

Moscow suffered its worst attack in six years in March 2010 when two female suicide bombers from Russia’s volatile Dagestan region set off explosives in the metro, killing 40 people.

The Kremlin is struggling to contain an Islamist insurgency in the mainly Muslim North Caucasus, and rebels have repeatedly vowed they will take their battle to the Russian heartland.

What is GOING ON...once again religion is ****ing us all in the a$$ and we are acting like it's alright. No one has the balls to challenge all these fake religious rituals and teachings. I say set fire to ALL religious books, ALL OF THEM.

There are but not as much as Islam.

Either way, this is Russia and they are going to be opening a can of good old fashioned whipass on some people. They don't care much for what other people/countries think and will use the required force. Remember those pirates they ran into not so long ago... :D

This is not only a bombing and 40 people killed, this is a huge assult on investment, development, and property too, not even counting the cost to security.

Did they not say that last time they had a bombing in their subway and told everyone they were sharpening the security? Good on them for pomping those pirates though..

There is nothing really the Russian govt can do, they have quite a huge population and a lot of people in Russia want to bomb others, I mean who are they going to arrest? Who are they going to kill? How can you put fear in those who are willing to risk there lives for a fake prophecy? Think about it, the enemy is not individuals but the system behind it...wipe out all these religious crap or else this is just a never-ending circle.

Earth is interesting to say the least!
 
Well we an't kill people just because they don;t think like we do, al be it our moral may be a light year more advanced than what theirs is. Best option is to simply ban trade and travel with the nations which are not responsible enough to stop these people from crossing their boarders and to stop allowing the religius to take physical ownership and enslavement of their children, to stop child indoctrination, and in fact all indoctrination (& branding like with circumcision) with simply and appropriately the exact same laws which apply to any other such organization, for a common example, advertising organizations. We've also got to try and get away from resource economies as fast as possible because it is exactly the ability to achieve without producing that allows these people to skip their function in society and buy them a thrown. And another problem the west faces is that we are not strict and consistent enoguh, if the Koran is hatespeech(which it blatantly is), then we should ban or force it to be censored, just like all other media are censored today. A FAIRYTALE IS NOT AN EXCUSE!

actually I think these people are fighting for independence, I think almost all of the russian states that end with stan wants to be independent of moscow

Slaugtering complete strangers is no argument. We've got the UN, they should have gone to the UN. What these people have done says merely that they don't believe in diplomacy and don't believe in jury, questioning of fact, or a reasoned judgement, If these people had it their way, there would be no civility, there would only be barbarism, no courts to prove cases, rather bombs. If anything, I say let them have it, and let them hav it alone, if this is about land then having it would be Russia doing exactly what they supposedly fought against.

I don't see why this is about 'independence' though, if it was then they should at least have left a note, afaik, this is about religion.
