I see the below Makro special is valid from today till the 29th Dec.

I'm finally looking to upgrade my grand-daddy iPad1 aka iPad Classic to a more modern iPad but don't want to pay stupid money.

The 7.9" screen of the Mini is too small; it must have Lightning & Retina offer some value for money...my option therefore is the iPad 4 aka iPad with Retina Display.

Just before the iPad 4 was removed from Core's pricing; to make way for the only full size iPads of Air 1 & Air 2; the final RRP for the 16gb WiFi was R4299.

Now Makro is offering it for R3999; I think that's a bit of a deal for a still very decent full size iPad that can prob do 90% of stuff of the Air's but of course not nearly a featherweight as the Air's.

My only hesitation is the 16gb; I'm use to a 32gb tab; but could cut back in theory.

Even when checking CPT Gumtree you see many okes pricing out the iPad 4 almost close to the Air...which is a bummer as I won't say no to a good condition 64gb iPad 4; maybe even one with LTE.

When I look at Makro's page I can't figure out exactly which model it is - Dual core A5? AFAIK that was in the iPad2 which wasn't retina…

If it is the iPad 4 I think it's a good deal, but just check if it's not the iPad 3.

Yes I saw the site is crap; the print ad is a bit clear; the tag "iPad with Retina" is for the iPad 4; also the i4 was still in production until very recently while the i3 ended a quite a while back.

If it is the iPad 4 I think it's a good deal, but just check if it's not the iPad 3.

Indeed; think is a fairly sweet deal; easiest way to spot the i3 from the i4 is of course the Lightning connector & model number: A1458

Now just to wait for that bonus; then I can shift my old one :)

Decide to be cost efficient this festive season & got a mind condition 32gb iPad 3 for R2100.

Was very keen on the i4 but the really keen price of the i3 sold it for me.

Performance is good & screen quality great.
