Most dangerous mobile app stores revealed

RiskIQ has published its 2019 Mobile Threat Landscape Report – which revealed the mobile app stores that contain the highest number of malicious apps.

“Mobile apps – especially in lesser-known stores – continue to be a significant portion of an enterprise’s attack surface where security teams often suffer from a critical lack of visibility,” RiskIQ said.

Google really should improve the publishing standards for the Play Store. Over and above malicious apps, the quantity of trash apps is utterly staggering. Bad apps on the App Store have nothing on bad apps in the Play Store. I don't like there being high costs involved with publishing apps, but Apple is closer to getting this right than Google.

It will take a lot of people and money to get it right, but I agree, Apple is best at this. They have people literally looking through your code before they allow your app to be published. You probably already know this.

The App Store take it too far some times. They wouldn't publish my app for a charity because they wanted me to provide proof of how the payment process works. There was no payment processing in the app and saying "EFT" wasn't good enough. I was requested to provide technical specification of how EFT works - you know because I'm PASA or the banks and developed the entire electronic payment system for South Africa. Multiple attempts through multiple retards at Apple still couldn't get the app through and so eventually had to only have an Android implementation.
