I am setting up a server, and will need access to it from the outside. It is going to be running MS SBS 2003 on an ADSL line.

What dynamic DNS client would you guys recommend, with the main criterea being the reliability. I cant have this thing not updating...

If you want to do a very basic setup, I would suggest Hamahchi (www.hamachi.cc)

Im using it on some of our systems to connect like a "VPN", and its working 100% for me.

Unlike DynDNS, you dont even have to setup and forward ports on your ADSL router.

Hamachi is very simple to use and setup.

:D

I'm going to be doing the same thing very soon, on a windows 2003 box. The owner needs to be able to get to his files on holiday. I worried about power failures, etc (no ups). Is there anyway to make the dyndns client, or hamachi start as a service when no one has physically done the initial login?

Cheers, Nick

Hamachi is helluva slow but but once it is set up you do not need to authenticate each time. Likewise with no-ip client tool, once setup it saves your settings and automatically updates your IP. I am sure dynDNS will do the same.

mmm, yeah, my greatest concern here is of course going to be reliability. Should probably get a nice UPS, just to make sure that the server stays up.

The Hamachi app wont really suit me, caus I dont only need VPN, I also need http access to OWA. But thanks anyways.

Will play around with both DynDNS client, and No-IP client, and see which one works best.
