Hi peeps

Need some advise. Busy with an upgrade and budget is +-R 7000 for motherboard, CPU and GPU. Gonna use old hard drive, case, mouse, screen etc. Will probably also get PSU but thats another budget. Used mainly for gaming.

I have been looking at:

i5 3570k - R 2288
MSI 660Ti -R 3466
Asus P8H77 - V R 1579 (no stock) (any other suggestions)
Total R7333

Advise please.

Thanks

Good mobo, same price range: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3

Would really recommend the GTX 670, 660Ti only has 128bit which limit v-sync capabilities. Still very good card though.

If you get that motherboard you will not be able to overclock that CPU.

Look at this one instead:

MSI Z77A-G43, LGA1155, Intel Z77 - R1,162

Product Page

Of course you can overclock that with the board. Its actually very impressive when it come to overclocking (thats the idea my when it comes to ivy bridge cpu's my friend) :)

Its a bit more expensive yes, but very good budget board.

edit: if you read the article its one of the best budget boards for overclocking :p

^^ He was talking about the H77 board OP had in his post.

Thanks will change to the 7950 and Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H. While I'm at it what power supply would you recommend.

alternate good mobo: asrock Z77 Extreme4 for R1550 from Rebeltech (no affiliation, just bought mine from them). better value than the asus at the same price point.

"Personally" get a entry level chip (i3 2120/i5 2500k) + mid range board + entry level ram. And spend the rest on a good card

Not much FPS difference between chips/ram/boards, SPEND ALL YOUR CASH ON GFX if your into games and performace, but i guess thats just my thing :P, oh a SSD can make a good difference. Bad advice??

^^ That's only good advice if the games you're playing aren't CPU-dependent and rely mostly on GPU horsepower. Your choice of platform does limit the performance of your games and does dictate to a certain extent what settings you may play on. For example, many people can attest that Battlefield 3 runs just fine on a Core i3 and a GTX660 Ti on Ultra settings in the single-player campaign. But as soon as you go into the multiplayer, performance drops because the game itself changes to a CPU-limited one and nothing save a good quad-core can save it.

With regards to the mobo, just make sure you get a Z77 chipset if you planning on getting a Ivybridge processor. I picked up a Asus GTX670 (which is factory overclocked to the same as the GTX680) from Amazon for R3200. Awesome GPU that.

Including your import duty and shipping?

Looking at getting the Intel® Desktop Board DZ77BH-55K for R1700, any one recommend something better in this price range?
