Motherboard/CPU/RAM upgrade

Hello everyone, I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard/CPU/RAM. I have about R5000 to play around with, can anyone provide some comments on the idea I have atm:

Motherboard: MSI P55 GD-65 ~R1400

CPU: Intel Core i5 750 ~R1800

RAM: Don't know yet ~Remainder of the R5k budget

Any help or comments will be appreciated,

Thanks alot for the posts so far guys! I already have a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 here, so I'll move over to the water cooling in the next few months. I'm also quite the fan of Intel.. but if you can direct me to a review of the AMD cpu and it beats the i7 920 / i5 750 then I'm sure I'll move over to AMD again!

The real problem I have is with the RAM and motherboard. There are so many options etc

I have the MSI P55-GD65 which you first looked at and i am thoroughly impressed, it has all the bases covered and is great value for the price. You dont really need DDR3-2000 Ram 1600 should be suffiecient. They have just released the P55-GD65 USB3 internationally but i havn't seen it anywhere locally. But you can always get and add on USB3.0 and Sata3 cards later on.

There isn't sufficient bandwidth on a socket 1156 board for usb3 and sata3.

Lol, forgot about that. So, skip LGA 1156 USB3/SATA3 motherboards altogether. Limits your GPU PCIe slot to x8 instead of a full x16.
 
The way USB3 and SATA3 is implemented on LGA1156 boards means the 8 PCIe lanes get rerouted to privode the necassary speed for USB3/SATA3. Since LGA1156 only has 16 PCIe lanes, your GPU PCIe slot now gets limited to x8.
 
Well i wont read something from tom's hardware, but what i understood is that none of the intel chipsets support USB3. That is handled by a seperate chip which is not linked to the PCIe lanes.

EDIT: Hmmm, well not all P55 motherboards do that from what i have just read.

EDIT2: Seems the ASUS P7P55D-E Pro does not suffer from the problem you guys mention. But it does suffer from being a mouthful to say :-/

You dont get it. On socket 1156 the pci-e controller is on the cpu. So there are only 16lanes. That's it. On socket 1366 the pci-e controller sits on the motherbaord.

Socket 1156 just DOES NOT have the bandwidth for USB3 and SATA3. To get usb3 and sata3 you are correct in saying that an external chip is used, but to connect that to the cpu, lanes have to be taken away from GFX.

But when you read a review that states that the motherboard in review does not share its 16x PCI-E lanes with USB 3 and SATA 3 then what is there to not get?

Do yourself a favor and read about the motherboard before you mention i don't get it.
