Hi all,i'm struggling to see what this could be.

My brothers system he bought from me about 5 days ago was working in my system just fine with no problems EVER!

MSI socket 775 board..core 2 quad cpu..he says the PC had no problems what so ever! was working fine until he tried putting it on on saturday morning, nothing dead.

So i took it and tested it today, oky so i tried resetting the bios by moving the jumpers, tried 3 power supplies, took out the cmos battery ect.

But stil if you put the PC on the CPU and system fan spins one full circle and just stops dead..But what i've noticed is that if you pull out the 4 pin white plug beneath the cpu(usually on the CPU's bottom left side) the PC would boot? obvious with n black screen but now everything is starting up and spinning again, but plug it in and you've got a dead pc again?

Please need assistance !!

Have you tested the psu with a paper clip to see if it can power on correctly?
Next would be to test your PSU with gradual loads.
Unplug everything and only plug in vital peripherals.
Work your way back from there.

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the case, the motherboard was shorting on it. Maybe try taking everything out of the case and booting it up.

Yes all the psu are fine, took thr board out and only have the cpu and ram in,its on a anti static bag as well, does the same thing.. :( tried another cpu as well, same thing

The 4 pin white plug you are talking about, is that the CPU fan plug or the CPU power plug from the PSU? My first guess was that plug itself, since I forget to plug that in a lot of times and it has the same symptoms.

Had the same problem with a more modern gigabyte board.

I suspect it was shorting, because I removed everything, cleaned, and reseated the hardware and it switched on perfectly.

(I properly put rubber under the screwed and made sure everything was perfect with cable strain or anything)

like i said above, took it out and placed the board on a anti static bag stil same problem

My guess is that Mobo is faulty. I have had similar problems with MSI mobo's. (not sure if it was just my luck, or they are not up to scratch lately) The last one I had lasted about 6months and did basically the same thing eventually.

Hope you can find another board and see if it really is the mobo.
