Morning peeps

Wierd issue, yesterday i reset my bios via the battery, then for some reason i lost all network resources. Ive got an onboard controller on a GA-945PL-S3 board. There is no option to use the onboard lan in the bios settings, which there should be, and obviously its automatically not present in windows.

Ive tried updating the bios with a multiple array of bios versions but none really seem to have any effect.

Am i looking at hardware failure? Pc runs fine except for that,....

any help will be greatly appreciated...

Maybe try a Linux live CD and see if that picks it up. If it doesn't then it's either the BIOS or hardware. Good luck.

+1 I dont think it's the hardware. Try flashing the BIOS with the same or newer firmware.

Is your board revision 1, 2 or 3?
If it's a Gigabyte motherboard, try the CTRL + F1 key combination (when you're in the BIOS screen) to give you the additional "advanced" options on the BIOS menus.

The GA-945PL-S3 user manual covers the network adapter info on page 37. Your board has a cable diagnostic feature designed to detect the status of the attached LAN
cable (SmartLAN)

If still nothing listed, unplug all non-essential hardware and boot in safe mode - see if anything is listed. If not, uninstall all the motherboard chipset drivers, re-boot and see what happens.

Are you installing the correct Realtek 8111B Gigabit Ethernet controller drivers?
