Motherboard problem?

you chaps make it sound so simple ..... "Oh just strip it and reassemble it" ........ right, and for the dude who stresses about putting a ram stick in, you may as well tell me to firewalk :o

whats there to stress about unless you gonna use a hammer to put the ram back in. Mobo's are very resilient to pressure imo.. let me give you an example.. my ancient pc started acting up so i carefully angled my mobo against the wall and threw a brick at it... the brick bounced back and the mobo remained... okay it had some hairline cracks here and there but the amount of force i threw the brick with, i expected something more along the lines of a complete snap

~note to self, don't let acidrain close to my pc~

hehe, well if you met it you would understand... one minute its all fine, next it decides it doesn't like the case so only worked if i lay the parts out on the floor and then power it. Also sometimes, depending on its mood, it decides whether it wants to be a tower or a flat-top ( or whatever you call those boxes you put the monitor ontop ).. just got a bit too much for me... and when i say ancient i mean top of the range card then was an fx5200

it totally conked out yesterday afternoon .... only picks up the dvd-rw in boot. Have the bud coming in next half hour to have a look and try isolate what is wrong. I'm guessing hdd's or busted sata ports on the mobo but what do I know anyway.

I'm going to try that right now!

Ah good luck MH, I know how much it sucks

BTW: I tought my self how to assemble a PC from messing around with those old one that took P3 and P4, then When I had some working pieces I built my first PC :D

So it was identified as being totally busted Sata ports ..... if you hold the connection to one side (basically bending it to the left), it works but let go and fail. So ja, new mobo on the way. Only problem now is getting it in time for Saturday which is a bit hard considering I'll have the money on Thursday but delivery is 3-5 days :(

Anyway, thanks for all the replies ;)
