Busy putting a PC together for a friend however I usually only put together Gaming PCs. This guy wants a PC for Office work, Internet Browsing and Computer Aided Design (CAD)... what kind of a mobo and chipset am I looking for here?

CAD is quite intense on the system... he will be using Microstation + AutoCAD and Revet for those of you who know it

Get a bog standard Intel board, Plum Creek or something similar. They're pretty solid, just don't overclock.

It's the board I use for standard install.

4GB Ram
250GB disk
E8200
Vista Business 64bit

I would say something like this.
8500GT
2 gig ram
intel motherboard P35 chipset maybe?
E2180 processor 2gig dual core and 1 mb cache should be enough for cad
19" wide screen.

What about quad-core for CAD? And I don't know what your budget is but for professional work, have a look at the nVidia Quadro graphics cards - mighty expensive though.

Just softmod a normal 3d nvidia card to a quadro...it gives you a massive boost with certain 3d apps (3ds max in my experience). Cad doesnt have proper support for multiple cores yet. Autodesk are still working on it...
