I suspect the cleaning ladies are lifting stuff from my office. I have a webcam here, and want to record them doing it. I don not want to record all the time, only when there is movement in the office. Which free software package would you guys recommend?

You will have to firstly buy a webcam that has motion detection functionality. Should come with software included. Just using a normal webcam and hoping software will make it detect motion is not gonna happen.

Assuming you have a 'doze box you keep on, etcetera, take a good look at Vitamin D, it's specifically built this way. See their channel for more.

NO, not necessarily.

Any webcam can be used, its the software that's important as the software detects when the image has changed from the stationary image when there's no movement

Nope, Im using an el cheapo webcam, and I have installed Yawcam and it worked fine, but it only takes a photo when there is movement, and that's not what I want.

Worked well from me in the past.

Thanks, will try these!

*bump* Slootvreter, did you manage to find a workable solution? Looking for something to see what my dog gets up to in his spare time...

No, I've given up long ago. I would have thought that this would be a fairly simple thing. I was wrong. :(

Weird you couldn't find software for this.

I once setup a temp DVR on an old P4 running XP using Argus DVR. Worked well for that fortnight.

It has motion detection, support for different types of cameras/cards, etc. Webcams should work, give it a go.
