Johannesburg - Former president Kgalema Motlanthe has warned the ANC that if it did not get its house in order, it faced being irrelevant and would eventually die.

Motlanthe was speaking during a two-day regional consultative conference of the ANC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth yesterday, where he addressed about 300 delegates on factionalism and renewal.

“Renewal cannot be just tampering with the structures. It means we must think very deeply about what the challenges are that our people face today. The ANC exists for one purpose only, and that is to address the problems of our people.

"If it [the ANC] is no longer addressing the problems of our people, we might as well begin writing the obituary of the ANC,” Motlanthe said.

He said it would not be the first time a glorious liberation movement lost its hegemony with the people, as this was what happened to other African countries’ liberation parties after they had been in power for 20 years.

"become" irrelevant? I have news for you...

Sorry Kgalema...

The ANC became irrelevant around the time you voted in your corrupt criminal leader.

And you definitely have not existed to address the problems of your people since before then anyway.

To paraphrase : "The ANC is failing but the NEC and Jacob Zuma should not be held accountable.".

Uhm... Motlante was the opposing candidate for president at the last ANC elective conference. Don't see how he would have voted for him.

Why would he not vote?

He was elected deputy president of the ANC at Polokwane.

I didnt say he didn't vote. And what's who he voted for, for ANC president got to do with him being elected deputy?

So you argue just for the sake of it. What's up with that?
?

A voice of reason like Kgalema is also something that's become irrelevant amongst some ANC members in their quest to protect Zuma at all costs.

Uhm no. People are out here making unsubstantiated claims. I don't have to be in the opposite camp to want proof.

The majority voted for the criminal embecile Zuma. So thats why he is in charge and the chief of the defrauding regime. So your required proof is meaningless. You know it.

Problem with ANC is that everyone goes there to create personal wealth and not to serve the nation, we need a strong opposition in the next election to kick out ANC, they have been in power for far too long

Aren't we talking about Motlante here?
