As I predicted a few weeks back, when Sony Ericsson dropped UIQ in favour for Mikropap, Motorola has announced that they too will stopping using the Symbian based UI. Interestingly they also kill off their own Java/Linux platform in the same go.

Series60, the UI for Symbian as made by [-]God[/-] Nokia and used by the Koreans (LG and Samsung) is now the only UI remaining on this elite OS.

As they say - only the strongest survives :p

So the consolidation of the Mobile OS has started... Android to swallow LIMO next? Palm to buy back Access or vice versa? WinMob to eat RIM alive?

Winmob taking in RIM would be an interesting thing.
With all these new developments perhaps we will soon see the iphone being able to multitask :p
