Hi guys. Got my moto g 2nd gen for about a week now and I must be honest, it is the most amazing phone I have owned. I have had every galaxy s since the first one and have put a custom rom on each one to make it work properly.

This is my first android phone that I won't be romming. Timely updates and no bloatware have made this device awesome. It definitely punches above it's weight class.

If anybody is considering getting the phone from orange I recommend it. I also got the cruzerlite bugdroid cover from Amazon UK.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the phone.

Performance wise, how does it compare with the S5 (with TW and with CM)?

Should a potential buyer be worried about the 1GB ram?

What are your personal impressions of the camera?

Are you satisfied with the 720p screen, coming from a S5, or is it noticeably worse?

Thanks mate.

I haven't run into a slowdown situation. The 1gb ram sometimes leads to page reloads though.

I am not a camera aficionado but does great for my needs.

The fact that you have CM on it tells me that you also got annoyed with stock. Frankly I am tired of molesting the phone to get it to work properly it the box.

I am fine with the screen though. You are not gonna really notice the reduced resolution unless the devices are side by side.

The phone is comparable to an s3 with a bigger screen and a slightly thicker body.

It is a very smooth interface though.

Congrats on your new phone. How much did you pay for it all inclusive with delivery etc?

If you had the S4 and S5 this should be a major downgrade, no?

After spending days testing ROMs to remove the crap Samsung loads. Trust me the moto g punches far above it's weight. It has no crap on it slowing it down.

I am officially done with Samsung.

Think it was about 2650 from orange. Plus about 350 ish for the bugdroid cover from Amazon UK.

Yeah, great price. I was looking for the dual sim 2nd gen device the last couple of weeks around Dubai/Saudi but they all had the original model. Got a deal on an S5 dual sim anyway but I would've bought that if I could've found it.

Enjoy :)

Yeah i get that but i have a S3 + cyanogen so the moto g would not be an upgrade for me. The s5 on the other hand would be...

Agreed. Too bad you have to rom it to uncrapify it. I just got tired of having to work on a so called premium device for it to work properly. I want it working out the box and I want it up to date.

Love this phone. Really good value for money. I'm using cell c for voice. 66c a minute. and paid R250 once off for 512mb Telkom mobile data a month on the second sim

Anyone experienced the touch screen problems on their Moto G? Seems pretty common on the new model.

I'm gonna necro this thread a bit.

Does anybody know whether the Moto G 2014's purchased through Orange ZA store are receiving the lollipop updates yet ?

Still waiting on my update here.

That's not what I want to hear. Did you buy it from the Orange store ?

Also, is the 8GB internal storage partitioned at all ? Like my HTC one SV, where the "internal app storage" partition of about 4GB is now filled up with unknown stuff which prevents certain updates from installing.

Yes I did. I have the XT1039 hardware revision. No idea on the partition for the internal storage since I haven't had that problem yet.
