Crash.net reporting that Jerez & Barcelona (along with Qatar & Portimao) are being lined up as possible replacements.

Glad that the decision has been made before the racing this weekend gets underway so that the protagonists in this year's title fight are not in the dark when the lights go out (excuse the pun).

Floods impact Barcelona as MotoGP considers Valencia replacement

A red alert warning for rain has been issued for Barcelona.

Barcelona has been hit with red weather warnings as flooding impacts the city, with MotoGP set to head there in two weeks to close the 2024 season.

The Catalan city has been hit by flooding this morning (Monday 4 November), and a red alert warning of ‘Extreme Danger’ has been issued.

AEMET (Spain’s state meteorological agency), has warned that Baix Llobregat, around 23 miles from the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, could experience as much as 180l/m² of water in the space of 24 hours.

Pedro Acosta has a much higher ceiling. Even with all the falls, he has more podiums this year than Brad and has run the Ducatis closer when he isn't falling off.

Then of course you have Marc getting a factory Ducati from next year, so good luck to the rest of the grid. Yamaha seems to be getting sorted, and Quartararo is alien-level talent as well.

I obviously support Brad the Brave but Acosta has just sneaked past him in the championship and he may have picked up a shoulder injury. Then add that KTM may have some financial woes and it is not looking so great.

Pedro is in all likelihood an alien. He's going to ride at the level of Rossi, Stoner, Marquez and Lorenzo for years.

If KTM are to withdraw from MotoGP at any stage, that would hopefully be offset by the arrival of BMW, who are making noises about entering. Added to that, changes in regulations from 2027 could hopefully entice the likes of Suzuki back which would be great.

EDIT: Rumours floating around too of MV Agusta wanting to come back.

Cooler temps could also assist other manufacturers. Aleix Espargaro won last year and was fourth this year. Allied to that is it now is a home farewell for him so he will be super motivated to go out on a high.

Curious to see how this one plays out. Pecco will obviously need to risk it but given how this championship has gone, I wonder whether Martin will internalise that he doesn't need to push and risk it all. Also wonder what impact Marc and Enea will have on the title given their championship fight.

They have both proven they have the pace, but if either want to rack up more than 2 or 3 championships, they need to grasp when to risk things and when not to. Something I feel both have failed at miserably this year.

I wonder if Martin will risk a bit on Saturday with the sprint as he has the comfort of the Sunday to fall back on. Let's say he goes for it on Saturday and bails and Pecco wins. That still leaves Martin with a 12 point lead going into Sunday. While not as comfortable as it was, it is still a decent enough lead for him to bring it home in 4th (which is what he would need as a minimum if my maths is correct).

But he could also easily let Pecco win as long as he finishes up there and give himself even more of a buffer on Sunday.

Some interesting food for thought for him for sure.
