Hi Guys,

ive booked and am doing my motor cycle learners test, I have a valid car licence for over 10 years now, does one have to redo the entire learners test (all 100 or so questions) or only the section pertaining to the motor cycle i.e. the extra 10 or so questions?

Whole thing

You do the entire thing again. The only thing that changes is the small final section, which will be related to motorbikes instead of cars. Stuff like labeling the controls, which brakes to use etc.

2 years ago when i did mine, i did a specific bike one, not the whole thing. there are some car related stuff in there but the easy stuff that requires no studying. it was like 70% bike specific. the rest was like road signs that apply to both.

You redo the sign one, which happens to be the same one that you do for the car learners and then you do the additional bike section.

In summary you do both.

The test is the same as the car one, only difference is the control section - which is obviously related to motorcycles. I think there was like 8 items, of which they ask 6 questions or something like that. Be prepared to take it on a computer - and have your results show up instantly - which is cool.

Source - I did exactly this about three/four months ago.

^ this. They switch out the questions related to the controls. Remember to learn all the rules pertaining to both the car and bike coz those questions will catch you out. Stuff like parking away from a kerb/bridge and then the stuff for the bike about objects protruding from the front or rear of the bike

Fun fact - in my test, the questions relating to protruding was actually car questions. Luckily I had learnt both.
