Been done plently of times. I chatted with my examiner and he says they are generally very strict with people on the small bikes, and more lenient if you pitch up on the bike you actually plan on riding. For instance my dad didn't even lose points for not shifting in the one test because the examiner understood that his bike has a very tall first gear and he'd be almost stalling in second at the speeds they wanted.

Well if that is the case - awesome!
 
Well that makes more sense. I mean how can they expect a bike that can do 120kmph in 1st to be able to shift comfortably into second at 20kmph.
Taking the point penalization seems like a better idea.
