A local government Councillor travelling on the road between PE and Uitenhage told about a harrowing experience when a motorists encountered protesters trying to block the road a short while ago

DA Councillor in Sundays River Valley, Karen Smith, says she left Port Elizabeth a short while ago when she and other motorists passed a police vehicle on the side of the road near Dora Nginza Hospital where a group of people were in the road.

She says a few hundred metres further on they encountered a few people who were dragging burning tyres, rubble and tree stumps into the road.

Smith picks up the story.

"We were pretty much trapped then a guy in two or three vehicles in front of me, pulled out a gun. He pointed it at the protesters and they ran away. We managed to get through the blockage. It was a really frightening experience, there is a different way to fix things. I am just glad nobody got hurt this morning"

That headline sucks.

Should read "Lawbreaking thugs scatter when righteous citizen confronts them"

Was probably Danny waving the gun around, as they were waiting for him.

lol, next time fire into the air, bloody idiots

So the other day I stop at a service station when this guy throwing in petrol doesnt look what hes doing and spills petrol all over his own arm. The idiot walks away and lights up a cigarette causing his arm to start burning. Next thing the cops pull up and shoot him stone cold dead. When I asked the cops, politely, why they shot him they told me it was because he was waving a fire arm around. :)

Anyhow. I'm fairly sure the councillor was not upset enough at the guy with the gun to take as stand and refuse to drive through the now cleaned barricade to get where she was going.

Don't you just hate it when these gangsta motorists intimidate peaceful protesters ... /s

Geez, what's the point of having a gun if you can't scare the crap out of people with it?

The protesters were lucky that they weren’t shot. Having your route blocked for three days in a row isn’t fun.
