Motorola Defy Won't Update

Hey Guys,

I Just Got my Moto Defy and when I go to the update it searches and then says "Downloading of updates is not available at this time , please try again later"

Please Help

PS: Updates also don't always work?

Hi

I have a program call "Motorola Software Update". Probably got it off the web somewhere. Try http://www.hellomoto.com/support/update
I have already been able to do two updates with it. The latest being 2.2.2.
One more thing, updates take forever to download - using my ADSL 384 anyway.

Follow these steps:

THere's a 2.2.2 update for the Motorola Defy. The easiest way for me to update it was to first get my hands on a couple of different applications, find them on the motorola website / motodev site:

1. Motorola Media Link
2. Motorola USB Drivers
3. Motorola Software Update / Manager

First step would be to go to www.motorola.com (http://www.motorola.com/Support/XZ-E...out_blur_XZ-EN) and then get all of these files from there. Click on UPDATE MY SOFTWARE which will take you here: http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto/support/update/
After selecting your country, you select MOTODEFY from the drop down menu.
That should take you to this site: http://direct.motorola.com/ENG/Softw...n.ASEAN.v9.pdf

Follow the steps shown there. The same goes for when doing it through the software. I think if I remember correctly you'll still have to do it through the software. It worked for me. I had to update 2 phones over one night. Just keep your IMEI number close.

What does media link do and I tried to update via MSU but it says there is no update available

It's your basic android software for you computer made by motorola. It backs up your data, smses, emails and contacts. Things like that, but it also ensures a connection to your pc.

Hi there,

I had the same problem, and it seems like the update just wasn't available for some variations of the phone. It became available a couple of weeks ago and I managed to update just as axon1988 describes.
Maybe try it again and see if it works now.

Just one thing - I've found the update has resulted in a HUGE detarioration in performance and battery life. I know its supposed to be the other way around, but thats what I've found.
